Hands down the best and most unique hotel in Datong!
The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Even though we stayed for a night only, they helped to carry our luggage up, escorted us to our car and personally brought us to the Main Street to explain to us how to explore.
The breakfast was also very simple and clean with veggies eggs and noodles which I appreciated after many oily meals in China.
Highlight? The themed hotel design that brings you back to the dynasty era! The hotel facilities were superb too with 小度 and heater. We felt warm even when outside is negative!

Every detail is meticulously crafted. From the room's decor and the bedding to the freshness of the fruit, the tea selection, and the toiletries, it's clear the owner has excellent taste and a true passion for running this guesthouse. I booked this guesthouse for one night at the last minute, as I couldn't find a hotel room for Saturday during the tail end of my holiday. However, the experience was quite good, exceeding my expectations. Next time, I'd definitely stay for a few more days. The only minor downsides, objectively speaking, were the soundproofing and blackout capabilities. However, these are common issues for most guesthouses located in historic buildings.
The room was quiet and tidy, with quality bathroom amenities. What truly deserves praise about this place is the staff. They were always friendly and greeted guests warmly, contacting me in advance about my itinerary. Upon arrival, they helped with my luggage, recommended routes, and offered sound advice.
Breakfast was very enjoyable and peaceful. A touch of soft background music, however, would have actually enhanced the experience.
This guesthouse is situated right behind 'A Dream of Datong', faces the pedestrian street, and Huayan Temple is just across the road. It's also very close to the city wall's climbing entrance. It's a great choice for visiting the ancient city – a true oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle.
This time, I only brought my child, but next time, our family of three will definitely come together to experience it.
