The room was clean, and the owner was very welcoming, even offering pick-up and drop-off service. They served a different breakfast every evening, which was a lovely touch. The location is also very convenient. The festive atmosphere for Chinese New Year was great, and my kids absolutely loved it. Highly recommended!

Overall, we were quite satisfied. The location near the North Gate is in a quiet and comfortable complex featuring traditional Shanxi-style architecture. The place was clean, and the bedding was spotless. We booked a room with a tea room converted from a balcony, which I especially loved as a tea enthusiast. The breakfast was also good. My only minor gripe is that other than offering a choice between pick-up or drop-off service, the hotel didn't seem to provide any information or guidance on touring Datong.

Located on the north side of Datong Ancient City, near Renhefang, it's very convenient to call a taxi or hail a ride. Getting to the main attractions within the ancient city is also very easy!
The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, there were even noodles available, but I didn't order any, fearing I couldn't finish them. The guesthouse was cozy and comfortable! The room was clean and tidy, and most importantly, there was no noise!
It was freezing cold outside, but the indoor temperature was as warm as spring.

Stayed for 2 nights in thjs cute accommodation. Despite minimal interaction, the owner was really lovely! She carried my heavy 20kg suitcase up 3 floors!!! The room was spacious and comfortable, definitely warm enough when the weather was -15 degrees outside. They provided a simple but delicious breakfast. The location is convenient, a lot of places are within walking distance. I had a pleasant stay, thank you!

All amazing: the facilities, the hotel, the location, the breakfast... but if you have to put a downside on it, it would be the size of the room. My partner and I were carrying suitcases and there wasn't much room to leave them. In the room (at least the one we were in) only a large suitcase would enter well, but considering that it was a room for a couple and they usually carry 2 suitcases, it was really narrow. Point to keep in mind is that there is no elevator, so you'll have to carry your bags by hand to the room. The people who worked at the hotel were very friendly and helped us both to get them up and down. Hotel 100% recommended

The hotel is located in Renhefang, but the sign isn't very noticeable. You can call the owner beforehand; they're very kind. I spent 4 days in Shanxi, visiting all the famous spots, but the best noodles I had were the ones the owner cooked in the morning. Next time I bring my family, I'll definitely stay here again.

The Laocheng'en Courtyard Homestay is located within Datong Ancient City and is accessible by car. Parking is easy to find within the alleyways, especially during the off-season. The homestay features a cozy courtyard and living room, and the rooms are tidy. We booked a twin room, which wasn't huge, but the bathroom was very spacious. The main draw for us was the excellent wet/dry separation in the bathroom. There's no elevator, though.
The breakfast was well-prepared and satisfying. The staff were all very friendly; on our first day, they even provided tricycles for a spin around the ancient city!
Overall, it was a great stay.

The owner of this B&B is very attentive. The breakfast was nutritious and delicious, and we really enjoyed it. We stayed on the third floor, and the owner helped us carry our luggage up and down, and even picked us up from the station. We could see the ancient city wall from our room, and the night view was beautiful. We were also happy to have a tea area. It's very close and convenient to the ancient city attractions; you can walk there. If you don't want to walk, there's a dedicated tourist shuttle right outside, and it's easy to book a car. The only minor drawback was that the toilet seat wasn't very functional.
