Holiday Inn Express & Suites des Moines Downtown

When we arrived they said the pool and hot tub were closed, that's way we came to swim. They checked and it opened a in little bit. The check in lady was not friendly at all. The rooms are fine, but beds are very firm, ice machine didnt work on our floor, breakfast was good lots to chose from.

Only issue we had was there were ants in the bathroom and entryway..

Booked this hotel through ******* and ended up needing to cancel. I called the hotel to see if I would be able to cancel. They immediately told me this would be an ******* issue since I booked with *******. The woman I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude. I contacted ******* and spoke with an agent and they said I would need to contact the hotel but the contact for the hotel wouldn't be available until Monday, my booking was a for a Saturday. They assured me I would most likely be able to get a refund. On Monday, I call the hotel again and was rudely told that I would have to contact *******. I contacted ******* again and once again they told me I need to contact the Holiday Inn. This time ******* said they would contact Holiday Inn for me. After a day, ******* got back to me and told me that the holiday inn doesn't allow any exceptions for cancellations. I am still unsure on if this hotel or ******* are the ones being untruthful but I would've appreciated it if the Holiday Inn had at least been respectful and kind instead of condescending whenever I called.

Very clean

The bathroom sink smelled a little like a sewer. The fan in the room was super loud. The coffee is horrible, but at least there is a Starbucks nearby.

Everything was amazing!

The shuttle drivers were great! Breakfast in AM was delish!

Overall I liked the property. My main issue was that the place was incredibly loud with what looked like baseball teams and their families. We couldn't even use the hot tub after a really long day because the kids were running and screaming everywhere around the pool area....with not a single parent around or saying anything. The hallways were even loud during the evening.
