We spent our summer vacation on the island of Dharanvandhoo in the Guesthouse Aveyla Manta Village in mid-July 2021. Since we received a very warm welcome, we felt comfortable right from the start. Our room was on the first floor with a view of the immediately adjacent palm beach and the turquoise blue sea. The room was equipped with both a fan and air conditioning. Our favorite breakfast was the traditional mashuni (tuna-coconut mix) with chapathi and omelette (a little bit spicy). In the evening we looked forward to delicious dishes such as pumpkin soup, seafood rice, dal curry, etc. We won't forget the barbecue with shrimps and redsnapper as well as candle light on the beach!!! Since we liked the food so much, we later decided to have lunch at Aveyla Manta Village. The staff was very friendly and extremely attentive and helpful. Although the travel formalities were very extensive overall due to the Corona pandemic, we always felt safe and protected on site, so that the risk of infection was not an issue during our stay. The guesthouse has a beautiful house reef and invites underwater enthusiasts to go snorkeling. Every now and then we could see schools of dolphins passing by from the beach. Hanifaru Bay, a biosphere reserve known for its manta rays, is just a few minutes away from the guesthouse by speedboat and is really worth it. For diving enthusiasts, a variety of diving sites can be reached with the Liquidsalt Divers diving center, which is attached to the guesthouse. Due to the monsoon, the visibility was sometimes not so good, but the underwater world was unforgettable! The encounter with a manta ray at a cleaning station and with several green sea turtles was wonderful :) In the evening we were able to watch beautiful sunsets on the beach. The undholis (Maldivian swings), which can also serve as a nice photo opportunity, were also popular. Overall, the peace and quiet that the island exudes was very good for us. The contact with the islanders also contributed to making our vacation an unforgettable experience! Many thanks at this point to Ahmed and his family and also to Risheen from Liquidsalt Divers and to all the employees at Aveyla Manta Village.
