An Loc Hotel

We stayed for 1 night en route from Laos to Hanoi by bus. The taxi bus dropped us at the out of town bus station after driving past the end of the road- try to track on a phone and get them to stop if you can. The hotel sign isn’t visible driving along the road only from directly ahead so we circled the block a couple of times. We arrived at lunchtime when the whole town shuts down for 2 hours siesta so it seemed quiet even though the hotel is in the centre. We were shown to a room on the 5th floor- large, nicely decorated, very clean with separate shower cubicle which didn’t flood the bathroom. Water was hot. Bed was comfy and there was a fridge. We had a window which looked out past the airport to the distant hills. The hotel has a nice rooftop patio on the 7th floor which is perfect for watching the sunset and nice for a drink in the evening (there are very few western style bars in DBP). The staff were helpful but none spoke English as do few people in town. The room price was roughly £11 which was great value. They allowed us to keep the room till 7pm the next day for 50% of the room price which was very helpful. DBP is a low key sort of town- the military museum is worth a visit but quite expensive at 100,000 VND. We found one good restaurant which I have left a review of. In summary this hotel is as good as anywhere you’ll find in town for the price, no problems with it at all.
