On arrival the gentleman was nice and polite who checked us in. Room was fine for the price, I wouldn’t expect anything amazing as we only paid a very reasonable price for the night. Room was a little chilly at times but to be expected for such an old building. I’m not one to write reviews but due to the service we received the following day I felt it necessary. Following the stay I looked back on reviews and can see the attitude of the landlady is a problem for many, so this may not impact the service, as it seems these comments aren’t taken on board. We sat down for breakfast and it was empty, the landlady who was serving us made us feel unwelcome, not a single smile or polite greeting. Many people were coming in and sitting at the wrong tables who were getting told quite abruptly to sit where there was placemats. On checking my husband came down with the key, the land lady looked at him with not one comment and walked off upstairs. He was about to tell her my 5 year old son has broken a plate in the room but he didn’t get chance. I went back up to the room a couple of minutes later to explain to her my son had broken a small plate. As I came up I tried to explain this to her but she didn’t even stop and let me speak she just walked right past (as I was speaking). I couldn’t believe how rude this was as I was trying to apologise. I felt really uncomfortable and could not fathom how someone could just walk past a customer who trying to speak to them. It cost nothing to be polite.
