Dreams Dominicus la Romana - All Inclusive

Dominicus|1.76km from city centre
The Dreams Dominicus La Romana was luxurious and the customer service was superb! Without question, it was our best family vacation. We traveled with two children (ages 11 and 9) and the Grandmother (age 79) and all of us really enjoyed it. I highly recommend paying for the Preferred Club. The preferred club beach area and restaurant were excellent as well as the kids club and Coco Cafe. Armando was our family concierge for the week. He was phenomenal and made our family feel at home from check-in. Armando was very responsive, he promptly scheduled dinner reservations for us and was very helpful assisting us to coordinate transportation arrangements from the airport. Armando even showed up in person to ensure our Spa reservations were made as planned. The Dreams offers quick golf cart transportation to and from the family areas of the resort to the beach and main pool areas. Providing this service was critical for elderly guests. Samuel Nunes from the bell-boy team was exceptional. He always took extra time to help our elderly Grandmother with transportation. My family also took advantage of the Spanish lessons offered by Bella. Bella is an excellent instructor with a great attitude and she really got my wife and kids interested in Spanish throughout the week. The Dreams also distinguished itself in safety of the guests. During our stay, I witnessed a lifeguard (Mr. Cleivi Garcias) dive in and save the life of a drowning minor at the family pool. His actions were simply heroic and gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed traveling with children that we were in a safe environment. We had a spacious family suite with an adjoining room. The rooms were modern and updated and Armando always made sure our bar was well stocked! Thank you, Dreams for an amazing family vacation!

Whala!Bayahibe

Dominicus|3.07km from city centre
We stayed here as a couple in June 2024 flying from the UK. Overall, we had an average stay. There is definitely room for improvement especially with regards to the food. We’re not fussy eaters, but there was nothing which was delicious. Everything was either edible or just ok. The buffet restaurant is boiling. All the cold salads, cheeses, meats and pasta salads are warm which is off putting. If you can, get a table by the edge of the restaurant nearer outside. The Italian restaurant is the best out the bunch and you can visit as many times as you want within your stay, you just need to book a day in advance. The Mexican/international restaurant was dreadful and we weren’t the only people who thought this. You’re given a set menu to choose from. Quite a few guests told us they got up and walked out after the starter because it was just awful. Serious improvement is needed to the menu. The snack truck is also lovely but watch out for the hornet burrows in the sand. Weather was amazing even though it forecast storms and rain. The hotel maids deserve a special mention. They make sure your room and the entire hotel is spotless. They’re always polite, happy to see you and will let on. The staff themselves we didn’t really have an issue with. You definitely get better service if you tip a couple of dollars here and there and they are grateful for this. We did have a weird experience where one of the entertainment guys asked us to get him a gin and tonic from the bar while we were sunbathing. Usually wouldn’t be bothered but we were burnt and feeling a bit unwell, so we told him no and he sat on the sun bed in silence which made things a bit awkward. He then rang his mum on FaceTime and had a full blown conversation with her for about 15 minutes before getting up and walking off, and then didn’t speak to us for the rest of the holiday. We did see him throughout the holiday on other guests sun loungers similar to like he was with us with an drink in his hand.. however we have no proof this was alcohol and management could be fine with the entertainment staff drinking in the day with guests but just thought it was worth a mention. We had a new refurbished room which was lovely , but the balcony was dreadful. We faced the wall to the next hotel and the size of the balcony was the width of the plastic chairs. As such, towels and swimwear didn’t dry overnight which was a bit annoying. When we asked to change the staff we’re quite rude on reception and said we would have to pay extra if we wanted to move. Finally, I would say that you couldn’t just stay at the hotel for the whole of your stay, there isn’t enough to do. Definitely make the most of the excursions which you can book at reception. Soana beach day which we booked through the hotel is lovely. However, is very very busy and you’re fighting for sunbeds (a lot of them are broken) Seems a bit unorganised but the actual trip and the views are amazing.

Sunscape Dominicus la Romana - All Inclusive

Dominicus|1.62km from city centre
Rooms are getting old, as most of the infrastructure, including some security issues (rotten emergency staircase that can't be accessed, electric installation that has exposed surfaced, slippy alleys, ...). Direction seems to be lost and staff, despite very friendly, is not as helpful as most of the older reviews are mentioning. Our luggage were left in the lobby when bringing us to the room, telephone is not working in room, free wifi is limited to 300kbps, just enough for emails and WhatsApp and our WiFi account was not activated at check-in. There are three different animation teams in the hotel, with different timings and it is far from clear from the information that we received during the check-in who is doing what, when and accessible to guests. The hotel animation team barely speaks other languages than Spanish, Italian and English, and they are not welcoming and involving guests. They seems to be more interested on their smart phones and on the single guests. On the other hand, the animation team (Claire, Sabri and Oscar) from FRAM, a French tour operator, is awesome and welcoming, regardless of the language. ”Show time” is happening in a theater with the necessity to have earplugs, as the sound is FAR too high and very bad. Food is very average, very international, like the one that one would get in Sweden, Spain, USA, Italy or France. No food that can really make you understand/feel that you are in Dominican Republican, except on Friday, but no specific signage to announce the type of food that will be served for dinner. ”A la carte” restaurants are difficult to book and only the Japanese one is worth, even not real Japanese, but more the vision that Americans have of the Japanese food. Nexus Tour operator (our local tour operator) is also completely missing, leading to an additional level of questioning with regards to the ”experience” that we are supposed to have in this hotel. Nexus sells this hotel has part of their lower case package as they directly own other hotels in the area. Very good point (one of the very few) is that there are a lot of free animals on site, making it an active part of the natural reserve that is around the hotel. After two years of pandemic, with an hotel that is half filled, we were really expecting another level of attention and of experience for the price that we paid. Many guests were also complaining, but this doesn't seems to change anything.

Dreams Dominicus la Romana - All Inclusive

Dominicus|0.57km from Bayahibe

I booked 12 nights here for my wife and I. We both had a great time. The choice restaurants was good. Bookings them via the app was quite straightforward. The beach was beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Mariolos. The only negative was booking through TUI. The TUI rep didn't appear for the duration of our stay. The transfer from the airport was badly organised. But I must stress the hotel/resort was fantastic. If you plan to Scuba Dive I would recommend Dressel Divers 200 metres down the beach.
