Rigsbys Guesthouse Doncaster

Booked online via ***********. Check in is advertised from 12:00-23:00. Told host prior to booking that we were unable to provide an ETA of arrival due to travelling over 100 miles. We did not receive a response from the host in the 9 days since informing them of this - and there was no small print on the booking form to state ‘check in not available between x and x time’. Arrived at property and were unable to gain access, ring electronic doorbell with camera was no use - no response from host. Rang host directly to be told that she was 40 minutes away walking the dog! We were unable to wait 40 minutes as had been travelling for over 3 hours due to traffic, and had a meal booked within the hour. We had to attend the meal not best suited or fresh due to not being able to access our room. We messaged the host to inform them that we would return to check in around 21:00 due to the above. By 20:30 we had still not received a reply from the host confirming if they would be there or not - not wanting to risk being disregarded outside the property again, we consequently drove 100 miles back after our meal. When contacting *********** for a refund the host tried to gaslight us and make it our problem that we couldn’t access our room! ‘You didn’t provide a check in time’ - (we did, we said we couldn’t confirm one) as a ‘guesthouse’ your guests should not have to accommodate their arrival around your personal lifestyle, guests pay to have that luxury. *********** were incredible and fully understood our frustration - and issued a full refund immediately. We probably should have looked at the reviews, and the episode of ‘Four In A Bed’ before booking! (Hint, it’s not a good look for the host!) In hindsight - always check reviews!

I had a very pleasant two-night stay at Rigsby's recently. The welcome was extremely warm and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. For anyone who might find themselves looking for somewhere to stay in Doncaster, I can highly recommend this guest house. If I should visit Doncaster again at some point, this will certainly be the first place I will be looking to stay.

Stayed one evening for our wedding anniversary. LOVED been greeted by Woof the dog and Misty the cat ❤️. My idea of heaven. Room was fabulous (standard double) with everything you needed for the stay. Toilet just outside the room but not a problem (no smells in the room💩). Tracy was an amazing host. Bed very comfortable. Very quiet stay (bonus). Very modern.

Lovely guest house in easy walking distance of the town. Super friendly owner, makes you feel really welcome. A mad dog and a very aloof cat only add to the charm of the place. I had the top floor en-suite room and the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in - so comfy i didn't want to get out. Nice coffee machine and bottled water in the room.

Mum and I recently visited with our dog Coco it was his first few nights away from our family home we had the pleasure of meeting Tracy and Woof (a beautiful dog) who are just lovely. The guest house is clean and tidy very homely. Tracy was great at fixing the booking for us as dad booked our getaway and there where some little hiccups. We had a lovely time visiting or loved ones and se will be back soon .

Really nice place to stay. The owner Tracey very nice and friendly, would definitely stay again if we are up this way. Georgina the other member of staff very friendly too. Rigsbys is near enough to walk into town where the shops and bars are. Well done Tracey keep up the good work

Just had a fabulous 4 day stay here and will definitely be back The room was absolutely beautiful more of a home from home, nothing was to much and tracy was very accommodating and cooked an amazing breakfast. Nothing was to much trouble and a very welcoming environment. You can see everything is the best quality from bedding to pictures to breakfast to the love and attention of this spectacular guest house I will be back very soon Thank you tracy for making my visit very relaxing and making me feel at home

Amazing place with perfect bed, tasty breakfast and Tracy a superwoman in charge. Spacious clean rooms, glamorously decorated with love and attention to details. Human and dog friendly home, we recommend to visit.
