While checking out this morning the manager at the hotel said the credit card Trip.com provided kept getting declined, so we were forced to pay twice. While I understand there was an issue with the trip.com payment, this should be handled by the hotel and the booking service. Or they should have alerted me earlier during my stay and not while I was about to check out with a travel connection that was close to being missed. Instead of public transport I had to spend 25 euro on a taxi to get to the train station.

Gut von der Autobahn zu erreichen. Zimmer und Bad waren sauber und ordentlich. Es gab kostenlosen Tee und Happy Hour (morgens) am Kaffeeautomaten.

We stayed here for 4 nights and it’s a lovely hotel. Each and every staff is helpful felt like home. The only disadvantage is that it’s far from the central station. So if you don’t have a car, this place isn’t recommended even though it’s one of the best properties to stay in. They have happy hour (free) for hot chocolate and coffee and that’s very nice. Highly recommend. They also have an AC and heater in the room which is very rare

Absolute disaster.
We stayed at the Ibis Styles Dortmund for one night and can only advise against staying there.
Checking in went smoothly. When we got to the room, it smelled of old smoke and they probably tried to counteract it with air freshener. The whole thing was so penetrating that we went back to reception and asked for another room. The lady at reception seemed a little overwhelmed, but managed to offer us another room.
The other room was clean and functionally furnished.
But as we then discovered, the TV only worked to a limited extent. Satellite TV was promised, but there were only ARD and ZDF, as well as a few third-party channels to choose from.
That wouldn't have been a problem if the WiFi hadn't also completely failed.
The lady at reception was completely overwhelmed with this problem and unfortunately had no solution ready.
The hotel made no concessions regarding the price and so we had to pay the full price for this limited service. Even when checking out, the hotel made no attempt to make amends.
We will not stay here again and can only advise against it.
