I had stayed, at the Sefton in the Atrium rooms, lots of times over the years with work, and I thought it would be a nice birthday treat to book one of these rooms as a surprise for my husbands birthday, how wrong was I. Room had ripped and threadbare carpet, toilet seat been put on incorrectly, my husband fixed it, furniture very tired and dated, which all could have been overlooked as to not spoil the weekend, but.... Sir Norman's Bar having work done, builders tools everywhere, like a worksite, furniture piled up, leather chair I sat on was peeling and ended up stuck to my dress, not informed prior to stay that there would be a work in progress in the bar. Woken @ 6.15am by two people fighting effing and blinding, one saying they had been hit, everyone out on the opposite side of atrium rooms as noise was so loud , flagged these issues up and was answered by Senior Ops Manager @ the Palace Hotel & ****** (sister hotel) to say a blind person had woken up scared and was screaming , so the neighbouring room had been banging on the door to see what was happening, two ladies at breakfast said that was the third morning that there had been fighting from the same room. I find the response offensive as I am not a liar and although there may have been an incident with a blind person? But what we were woken by (2 doors away from our room) was most definitely two people screaming & shouting at each other in-between swearing and one saying they had been hit, and one of them kicking the door in to get back in! On checking out we were sat in reception and heard two other people saying about the showers being cold, and told they have to let them run for 5 mins to warm up as it's due to the positioning of the boiler taking time to get the hot water to the shower, we seen them outside and they said they were disgusted how a basic thing as having a shower could be dismissed with such an explanation. This is not the Sefton of old, not value for money with our particular room & experience.
