We were returning from the north and checked in on Good Friday for 2 nights. The hotel is very centrally located to the major sights in Dresden's old town. The rooms are spacious, you don't hear the street noise. Clean and tidy house, the staff is friendly and courteous. The breakfast was plentiful and had a large selection. Value for money absolutely fine. We would come back if there is a chance.

First off, the location is great next to Postplatz. It's literally few steps to attractions Semperoper, Residenzschloss, Zwinger, Frauenkirche and the Elbe river. The rooms are tiny with the shower and washbasin inside the actual room, only the toilet separated by a door. There was dust below the beds and the room has seen better days. Overall it was ok, the beds comfy, and cleanliness on an average level. The price was fair given what we got. The breakfast is 8.50 EUR per person. You get some basics. Non-dairy milk (soy / oat) is not available which caused some issues with the cerials (use water or juice). Bottom line is that you get some food, but don't ask for fancy stuff or look for regional items or sustainability.

Overall my stay in this new hotel was very positive. It offers a good price-performance ratio, a central location and friendly service. I would certainly recommend it for a short stay! The hotel was more than satisfactory for the price I paid. The combination of location, service and cleanliness makes it a recommendable choice. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly varied. There was a good selection of breads, cutting, musli and even fresh fruit. There was something for every taste.
Motel One Dresden am Zwinger

It’s been a few years since we’ve reported on a Motel One establishment. This one is across from the spectacular Zwinger and steps away from the Altstadt, but a 20-minute trek to the Hauptbahnhof. The rooms and the public areas remain wonderfully furnished, with the turquoise scheme upfront. However, the breakfast and bar area can get extremely and uncomfortably crowded during the busy breakfast rush, and the queues for the coffee machine may take awhile, and you may also feel that you’re always blocking the reach of someone who needs specific items or just needs passage through the queue to get to where he needs to go. Another aspect for this day and age, and at the hotel’s specific price point in particular, that requires consideration is the lack of dedicated USB charging ports. If you’re from overseas, these features can be very helpful, when you have multiple items that need to be powered. The hotel also does not provide glasses anymore, only paper ones, which feels rather tacky. Finally, some travellers should be aware of the fact that in a typical German hotel such as this, guests usually only get towels in sizes of large and very large—no hand or face towels here. However, we don’t get radiators that dry them, as you may find in other establishments. However, not unexpectedly, you do get the basics: cleanliness throughout, good room temperature controls, noise levels under control, reasonably comfortable bed, good toilet pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, nice lighting options in the room, workable wi-fi, competent housekeeping, and friendly and helpful staff. While the breakfast buffet is not as endless as at many hotels of this class, it is cheaper here, and the space is admittedly very attractive. Overall, despite the concerns here, it’s still good value for money, but just not as great as it was a few years back.

When I came to Dresden, I chose to stay at Holiday Inn for the following reasons: 1) Service: As an IHG hotel, the service level is stable. When checking in, the front desk will inform the customer of the current arrival of the hotel in advance, patiently ask the customer about the room requirements, and if the customer arrives early, the hotel will allow the customer to join the IHG membership to enjoy early check-in. Every morning when I go to the restaurant to eat, I can see different waiters politely but not embarrassing to greet me; When I meet the housekeeping in the corridor, I will also greet them politely. 2) Hygiene: Clean the room, change the bath towels, and refill new tea bags and coffee every day. Shortly after the restaurant guests finished eating, the waiter cleaned the table cleanly, there were no bread crumbs on the floor, and the buffet table was also wiped clean without oil stains, soy sauce stains, and tea stains. 3) Facilities: The hotel is warm like spring, and there are heating and air conditioning in the room. The bathroom in the room is large, the shower water pressure is very comfortable, and the water temperature is also comfortable. It is really comfortable to take a hot bath after a day out~ 4) Environment: The hotel is located on a small street outside the old town and is very quiet at night. It takes 3 minutes to walk to Zwinger Palace and 10 minutes to walk to the Cathedral of Our Lady. There is a Sichuan restaurant less than 100 meters away from the hotel. It has a Chengdu flavor (numbing), which is delicious!
