Amaroo Hotel Dubbo

Dubbo|0.84km from city centre
We booked this on short notice. We were staying at Western Plains Taronga Zoofari and didn't get to explore things like the Dubbo gaol in town, so we decided to add a night. As 40 year veterans of the Hospitality industry, my wife behind the bar and me usually in front of it, we had a very good idea of what we were getting into. We stayed on a Friday night, and a quick check of the socials we saw that a DJ show was scheduled for that night, but we heard pretty much just muffled sound, nothing to disturb us. Space was tight, It was clean where it counts, Aircon filter could of used a bit of attention, walls and carpet had a bit of a tale to tell, but to me it is nice to know if you accidentally add a sentence to the story - downstairs ain't gunna sweat too much, as always adding a paragraph or chapter you will be looking for trouble but... Talking about downstairs- the staff were so helpful and friendly, the food was awesome. The position is also awesome really central, just make sure you take advantage of the car park if you have booked, the council parking police are very diligent in their enforcement of the one hour limit for street parking. One last thing. Amaroo- add toilet brushes to the bathroom. After the bistro had shut, I had a craving for a hot chilli Kebab, went a couple of doors down and got one. Next morning - in the immortal words of the 12th man Billy Birmingham, I damaged the Doulton quite a bit. We did make a big effort to clean it brushless with a lot of flushing, but apologies to the person that ended up with the job of cleaning it.

Discovery Parks - Dubbo

A massive letdown for what was meant to be a great time away. The location is great, and from what it all appears online in the photos, it looks fantastic......until you get there. Our cabin was one of the worst places we've stayed in quite some time. We understand that lots of families use these cabins, however, the state this place was in was disgusting. Burn marks in the flooring. Stains on the carpets, dust and dirt throughout the cabin. On arrival, we ourselves had to mop the floor, which was covered in dirt. The carpet was not vaccummed and we too had to attend to this ourselves. Call reception and they brought a stick vac to us, which at best, picked up half the dust on the floor. This was meant to be enjoyable, relaxing two nights away. It was far from it. And even after complaining to reception, no one bothered to follow up with us if our concerns had been resolved. Won't be staying here again, a complete waste of money.
Orana Motel

We arrived at the Orana after a long drive from Canberra and were greeted in such a friendly manner by the reception staff. We were assured that if there were any issues with our room we could contact staff and these issues would be addressed immediately. We felt at ease and even more so when we got to our room for 3 nights. We were welcomed by some lovely zebra's on the walls and almost everything we needed to get a good nights rest . We sought recommendations for dinner that evening and were directed to the Westside Hotel where we had a fantastic meal and some drinks too. We enjoyed several conversations over the next few days and felt very much at home. Well done guys you are doing a great job and we would not stop to book with you again.
Quality Inn Dubbo International

We found the Hotel just what we were looking for close to the Western Plain Zoo ....The car parking is some what strange no allotted parks for rooms . We stayed there twice 2 days going down south and once on way back , we found the rooms a little tired nothing major wrong just little things to detail which should have been picked up by cleaning staff and reported .....the toilet seat was loose and towel rail ready to fall off wall . If a handyman was around he could fix things in 30mins or so in our rooms but they were not ,we told management ....we also received an up grade when we came back and that was a nice gesture ... The restaurant was excellent and staff fabulous and always busy a good sign and prices about par ...we overall enjoyed our stay but it could improve with a bit of attention to detail
