Nice building with historic vibe. The comoun area are nice, but the room are just OK. Cleaness to improve, as the bathroom bin was not emptied from the previous guest No direct open window allowing a good ventilation I asked to change the room but the hotel was prentendingly fully booked

Itβs decent hotel we loved it. The only issue was parking because we wanted a safe parking space as we were looking through different hotels and it was listed. Only to find out when we got there that they were renovating their parking lot. It was not updated online.

Definitely an amazing hotel. The hotel was worth every cent. I loved that I was able to get an international plug when I needed one and that the staff was always willing to help. The breakfast OMG!!! Never seen or tasted anything more delicious. The variety of food and service from staff was a absolutely exceptional !!!!

I stayed here for 3 nights recently and it was a lovely place. Easy to locate, beautiful grounds (two pools!) and clean, comfortable rooms with very good air conditioning (important!). The entire staff was very friendly, even the security guard knew me by name. The daily breakfast was delicious. The hotel itself is walking distance from a grocery store as well as a busy street with lots of restaurants. It's a ~15 minute Uber ride to the beach and some other main attractions. And for the price, I feel like you can't get much better of a value. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Kudos to the team and leadership. Highly recommend anyone to not hesitate to book here. Thanks so much guys

Umhlanga is a beautiful location, it is safe, clean and easy going. There is a nearby beach π with an amazing whale bone pier and stunning views. The large gateway mall is a 7-10mins walk and is filled with all kinds of entertainment, food, shopping experiences you may need. The hotel service is good. Ultimate highlight of my trip was the pool πββοΈ clean and never busy.

The place was well cleaned. Ambience was tranquil and serene. View from the balcony is beautiful & refreshing. Thilo and Elaine were great however there was no hot water in my suite resulting in me taking an almost cold shower the afternoon I checked in. I was moved to another room the next day but I was really really looking forward to spending my time there in the Suite I booked. Breakfast was disappointing, there was 1 person trying to serve 14 people which was not impressive. I suggest more staff on the floor during Breakfast as it becomes frustrating having to wait for service you already paid for. Will I return? Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives.

The place is too steep so be ready for that... Their food is delicious, we had dinner there at their restaurant called Giorgios but its expensive I must say. Not sure about their breakfast and lunch though.
Staff and reception is just ok. I had requested them to add a crib bed for a child and upon arrival they told us that the storeroom is closed because we arrived at 6pm so it's too late.
We then asked them to give us atleast a bedsheets or any linen so we can make a plan for our son, they said ok but never pitched , nothin, not even getting back to us to say what could be the matter. We asked again the following day, they took four hours to bring a bedsheets.
Bottom line is if you have a child do not, I repeat DO NOT book that place because they will lie straight to your face saying they could not reach you since you booked via an APP.
I'm not sure whetherI want to talk about their kitchen in the rooms. You will have to call them now and again to bring things and they take 3 to 4hours just for a simple thing like a spoon.
One thing I can say is they don't listen and listening means you respect your business and your clients
I flew from overseas to rest and have a good time and have treat ourselves since they have a spar but I ended up canceling my plans for a spa because I didn't want additional dissapointments.
The rest I don't even want to mention...and that is my experience after paying so much Money and looking forward to a good vacation π BUT...

GGuest UserThe hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

I went with my mini family and had a great time. Despite the whether condition, we utilized the time to do activities we could for the 14 days we spent their. Any place of relaxation / holiday is as good as the people granting you refuge and hospitality. In a long time now i haven't gone to any B&B, hotels etc. and find great Souls such as Jenny, Vivian and the helpers. My family and i are absolutely grateful for the moment and great memories created. We came back with the most expensive gifts that we received Rivendell / Durban from peace, love, harmony, hospitality, kindness, support, tranquility yes intangible yet very rich and exorbitant and will remain unerasable for years to come. I am definitely coming back soon.

GGuest UserCabanas meaning in the English language : βa hut, cabin, or shelter at a beach or swimming poolβ And it was even worse than the name Umhlanga Cabanas. We looked forward to holiday in Umhlanga! And it's totally ruined by Umhlanga Cabanas. Not properly communicating to as at booking stage. We traveled 700km in peak traffic on Friday and was utterly disappointed by every single thing in this unit, staff, NOISY GUESTS and the resort as a whole. First of all, the pictures on the web are totally not a true reflection of the overall state of your establishment. There is only one washing machine and tumble dryer for 80 units + or 300 people!! This is unacceptable! Unhygienic ! Nobody communicated to us from the start when we made the booking that we are not going TO BE allowed to smoke on the balcony! AND MUST WALK 4 FLOORS DOWN FOR EVERY CIGARETTE! OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE BOOKED ELSEWHERE! We were on the 4th floor, and every time I needed to smoke, I had to walk 4 floors down ! There is no close by lift access! I had walked up 20 times down the stairs to smoke! Therefore we checked out on the first morning of the stay. WE RATHER LEFT THE It is a horrible situation, and you treat guests like it's a concentration camp ! There is also NO COVERED PARKING FOR ALL THE GUESTS! Other guests partied right through the night and shouted and listened to hard music.I informed the security guy and he pretended that he heard nothing the previous evening and morning at 03.00 am.Waited for a rude and aggressive manager to arrive until 08.00am and he just ignored the situation!- Sheldon is his name or something And came up with a lot of excuses. The bath was ruined and damaged inside. No easy access to restaurants and shopping at all! There is no parking available anywhere at day or night and beach access is also to far. Well done for ruining my holiday!!

BBuyi LArrived at the place and did not get the room I booked they told me it was taken by other people. Our room had no mirror and no tv, the air-con was not working and it was cold. Checkout is very early 10:00 in the morning which wasnβt easy. Other than that I will give the place a 5:10 great for over night stay and leave in the morning.
