Disastrous experience. Was travelling for work and arriving late Sunday night but booked this location as they advertised no check in limits. I was told I would receive check in instructions in case the front desk was closed (which unless you’re arriving before 5pm on a week day it will be) but nothing arrived. I spent Friday - Sunday night trying to contact anyone at the venue to get help as I didn’t want to drive 160 miles and arrive without being able to get entry. I got through to their ‘urgent’ care line 3 times and left 3 messages (with a real person) that was passed on with an urgent reply needed. Nothing heard back. Ended up arriving at 11.30pm and not a staff member or instruction to sight. Walked around the desolate site for about 45 minutes whilst explaining to their emergency out of hours staff that I needed to get into a room and they just told me nothing could Be done and they couldn’t help. Eventually, after almost an hour, I walked down to where the rooms were situated (they are completely away from the reception) and in an unlit corner, on an A6 piece of paper, was a mobile number I could call. Thank god for the security guard who let me in eventually. For £150+ a night, I would have expected to be able to contact the venue by call, email, message, etc in the 72 hours I was trying. Especially when they are the ones who failed to give me any details of what to do to check in. This isn’t a hotel nor should be advertised as one.

The accommodation was quite nice although the carpets were heavily stained. I think the Gold club should stick to golf as their hospitality is shocking. We arrived early as we were meeting friends. Our intention was to arrive early, identify where we are staying and get a taxi into the near by town to meet friends and not having to worry about drinking and driving. I approached one member of staff who was very polite and explained that we were staying and what our intentions were. As i was talking, someone rudely shouted out from an office that check in time isn't until 4pm. Although it clearly states 3pm on the arrival email. After looking at the room location, I went to the bar as being new to the area, I did not have any taxi numbers. I spoke to a member of staff and asked if they could call me a taxi or give me a number so I could ring. I had to ask again as she just stared at me. I asked again and explained that I do not know the area and would like to get a taxi into town and again asked if she had a number or could call one. She again looked at me, eventually saying No. Eventually one of the locals came to my rescue an provided a number. I found a complete lack of hospitality. To not even be able to get a taxi number and the rudeness of check in times.

Stayed after a wedding at the estate expecting it to be at the venue, so we were surprised that it’s a 20 minute walk on a busy road and no pavements. Our fault for not checking! Really lovely rooms but very noisy main road: take earplugs if you want any sleep.

We travelled to Midhurst the day before visiting family in town. We stayed in the Polo Lodge which was a suite with bedroom, ensuite bathroom and comfortable sitting room, which overlooks the Cowdray ruins, meadow and South Downs beyond. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and tastefully decorated. Both the lounge and bedroom has a TV and free WiFi. We had a Sunday carvery lunch on site, which was delicious. Staff are lovely and attentive, without being intrusive. We are looking forward to our cooked breakfast in the morning! There is a Golf Club on site and a Farm Shop a short drive away. A lovely getaway break thank you! There is also a local pub which sells food should you require an evening meal.

Lovely little room, and well presented although the matress had seen better days and could do with renewal. However as a whole we had a nice couple of days. We had trouble getting the key out of the lock box but managed after after about 10 minutes. The breakfast was lovely and tasty and the staff at the golf club especially the bar manager and India were very helpful and great hostesses. It was only a 5 minutes walk to the nearest pub but as we stayed on Monday and Tuesday the pub didn't serve food so we had to walk into town which was about 20 minutes to get food. The Indian the closest restaurant was absolutely great. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

A very comfortable and boutique collection of rooms either in a small lodge or little 1 room “bungalows” in the golf club grounds. Very well appointed, if a little small, the. Bath and combined shower is in the bedroom (Not separate) which looks quaint but is not especially practical as you struggle to keep the surrounding carpet dry when showering (no shower curtain….) The lodge is about 15-20 mts walk from Midhurst town centre , but there is not a clear footpath and the main road is very busy, so you actually need it drive…so a out 5 mts drive from Midhurst…. Breakfast is served in the golf clubhouse…but…be warned it does not have a restaurant so you need to find evening alternatives…. The gripe I had is communication….I had to chase several times to get the place booked, to check payment has arrived, to talk to them about some changes…..not easy to reach and slow at answering mails….a little frustrating when coming from overseas and needing the confidence all is booked…..

We were very pleasantly surprised to see that the suite had been made up with two beds as we had hoped. Great accommodation and amenities. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and excellent service. We will certainly be returning. Only comment to make would be air conditioning would make it perfect, less traffic noise. Margaret
