Dawsons Game Lodge

The food was good, but small in quantities, especially the bread during breakfast. Each day we had to ask for more and wait for more. Even then it got finished quickly on the table. The game ride was good, especially the quad bikes. Keep it up.

The stay was pleasant. Off the beaten road for peace and tranquility. The main rooms are nice and comfortable, with a fire going for the cold winter nights. Staff was super friendly and the food was decent.

Great and beautiful getaway. Loved the scenery and the whole stay. As much as the gate is not manned from 17:00 to 09:00, one needs to call the person in charge or pre-arrange with security. The chalets are clean and have everything needed for the stay.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights at that start of our South Africa trip and it was absolutely fantastic. Around a 3 hour transfer by road from OR Tambo airport, the lodge is in a gorgeous setting. We were greeted warmly on arrival and stayed in a huge suite complete with fireplace, an outdoor terrace with stunning views and a great free standing bathtub and separate shower. The bed is enormous and one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in; the staff perform a nightly turndown service and light the fire for you. We were on full board basis that consists of a wonderful breakfast of yoghurt and granola followed by your choice of cooked option, lunch which was two options daily, high tea with savoury and sweet snacks and then a three course evening meal. We are foodies and have to say the food here really was excellent - especially the desserts! Game drives, quad biking, fishing, massages are all extra - there are no big 5 here but there are sable antelope, zebra, impala, springbok, vervet monkeys, wildebeest and deer- and you can walks freely amongst them and it is simply glorious. The activities are very well priced- we did a game drive, quad biking and massages and for two of us it was excellent value. The bar is also great value for money- we enjoyed our stay here immensely and would recommend it to anyone- the staff are wonderful and friendly as well!

Dawnsons is an easy 3.5hr trip from Jhb and located in the beautiful, hilly grasslands of the Lowveld. We were very pleasantly surprised with how serene and lovely the lodge and setting are. The staff were great as was the food and we loved our little 'high tea' in the afternoons. Pictures don't do it justice, it's a gem!

The lodge are magnificent. so beautiful and extremely comfortable. The view is second to none, can walk and lots of game drives to be done. the food was delicious, ambience fabulous, the staff are brilliant, lots of chats. We will be back soon.
