Business travel accommodation, good value for money, clean, good environment, very quiet, you can sleep beautifully, the bed is OK, breakfast has not been tried, no evaluation.

The layout of the room we stayed in was very unreasonable. It looked quite big. There was no place to let go. After two days of heating, the heating was not warm. They responded to the front desk of four shifts. Everyone’s attitude was not bad. No one has solved the problem, and some people have said to me, ”I don't feel cold, how can you be cold?”... You are Iron Man, I am probably a normal human, because I feel cold at 4 degrees...

Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity

Note: the hotel may charge you an extra 54% on arrival even after paying in full on Bookingcom - you will be out of pocket of that value for 31 days or whenever they feel like reverting or refunding. It got me thinking I may as well have gone for a more expensive hotel for the overall cost. In spite of this, Nijmegen is a place very close to my heart and this hotel is very well located with comfortable rooms (although a little chilly as the air con is without a warming function - being a winter visit). As a frequent visitor of hotels, at least once every 6 to 8 weeks, this hotel will meet your needs and I do like the catering for business such as a desk in each room as well as the fridge and kettle provisions. The unadvertised charge of 54% extra (out of pocket) being the main gripe, which is in no relation to City Tax or Service Charge which is ok. This overall would otherwise be a reasonably 'ok' stay.

The hotel is very good near the station and center. The room is allowed to have some maintenance but also a beautiful large room.

***Please be careful before booking here, it looks more like a SCAM than a relaxed stay.*** We booked an expensive Suit room W/ Jacuzzi at this hotel to celebrate our 2023-2024. Well, this was the Worst Experience ever. Since we arrived, the Suite Room had issues with Leakage to the floor under our room. Room service kept coming to our room almost every 30min to an hour. They kept coming to check the same thing, nothing to see in our room. So with this the first day was already RUINED! We couldn’t relax because people kept coming to the door. Next day again same thing since the early morning room service and the hotel technician kept bothering us. As if we did something wrong but we didn’t, we couldn’t, we just arrived at the hotel Suite… Then they ask us to leave the room for at least 1 hour so they can ‘Try’ to fix the issue. We declined. Then randomly 30 minutes later our airconditioning stopped working, sweating in the SUITE room they couldn’t fix it. After all this, we decided to leave earlier then we wanted. We travel allot and visit different hotels in Europe. But this, for a very expensive SUITE room to have so many issues was crazy. Never had such a bad experience before at a hotel, especially a Suite room Hotel. We also we asked our money back, but only got a percentage back and as a compensation they gave us just 2 bottles of water… So yes, we had to pay for the first day, while they kept bothering us the whole time. Very very unprofessional of this hotel and staff. We had to pay for the night we couldn’t even relax because of faulty SUITE ROOM. Please be careful before booking here, it looked more like a SCAM than a relaxed stay.

Het is een mooi hotel dat prachtig gelegen is aan het water. Onze kamer keek over het meer uit, dat maakte ook wel het verschil. Honden zijn ook welkom mits aangelijnd en ze niet voor overlast zorgen. Het hotel accepteert geen contact geld, iets dat wel duidelijker aangegeven mag worden. Je leest al snel over kleine letters heen. Het niet accepteren van contact geld vind ik wel niet gebruiksvriendelijk. Maar dat is mijn mening. De slaapkamer was schoon en ruim genoeg, jammer dat 1 van de hordeuren voor het raam kapot was. Hierdoor konden bij open ramen insecten binnen. Ontbijt was heel goed en ook uitgebreid, verse producten. Het gebak dat in de gekoelde vitrines staat is niet dagvers. Dat vind ik voor zo'n hotel dan wel weer jammer, vanuit de gekoelde vitrinekast weer de koeling in de keuken in. Wat misschien voor hondeneigenaren belangrijk is...van 1 mei tot 1 oktober is het verboden voor honden aan het water. Dat wil zeggen het gebied links en rechts naast het hotel, dit is blijkbaar eigendom van Leisurelands.nl. Het gebied strekt zich kilometers uit. Wil je de hond laten genieten van het water dan zal je naar een hondenstrand moeten. Dit kan richting Harderwijk, maar beter kan je naar het Erkemederstrand in Zeewolde hier mogen honden los. Wel betaald parkeren.

Room condition is satisfactory. Breakfast is satisfactory.

We were welcomed very enthusiastically even though it was already late in the evening! We got a lovely room, clean and spacious with nice beds. The only thing we missed was a kettle in the room with bags of coffee and tea. Afterwards it turned out that you could rent this, but that was not very clear. The hotel is attractive and cozy. The brasserie is fine and the staff is very friendly. The surroundings are beautiful, you can walk straight into the forest on the other side and there are many activities to do.
