The hotel service was ok but the shower area was not very good. Toiletries were not of good quality as well.

We booked this hotel as it was close to a venue where my granddaughter was going to a concert. Check in was straightforward but the woman checking us in made no conversation with us except for the information she had to give us. No enjoy your stay or anything like that. The room was fine. Slight smell in the bathroom and some mould but overall, it was a nice decent room. The bed was clean and comfortable. There is no free WiFi here which I find strange in this day and age. You can have 30 minutes free in a 24 hour period and then it's £3. Not a massive cost but most places, even small businesses offer free WiFi these days. We had prepaid for breakfast. The bar, where breakfast is served was really busy and only a few tables remaining. It's a self serve breakfast and they had a great selection from cereals, pastries and your traditional cooked breakfast. Some things, like the sausage, bacon and tomato were lovely. The potato scones looked undercooked and had a funny taste. But again, it was alright. Checking out, again, no, I hope you enjoyed your stay or something similar. He just took the key card and that was it. Despite the few minor things, I would stay here again. Show less Date of stay: March 2025

The hotel itself is a standard Travelodge in a fairly central location just off the Royal Mile, more towards the Holyrood end. We booked the new superior room type and found ourselves on the 3rd floor. The room had a coffee machine, 2 instant hot chocolate sachets (we were a party of 3) and 3 mini kitkats. Iron and ironing board and a nice enough chair. Bathroom had a bath which was strangely shallow in depth, so not suitable for a good soak. The room and hotel are clean and nice enough for the standard Travelodge experience. The real negative of this hotel is the lack of luggage storage upon arrival, which to be fair is a big thumbs down and will influence our decision to stay again. Edinburgh is a tourist destination and the majority of people checking into a hotel there are going to have luggage. This hotel has a new policy whereby guests checking in can no longer leave luggage before 3pm at official checking in time. Last year they allowed luggage storage - apparently too much luggage before check in impacts on reception staffs welfare (or so said the hotel manager). So you can either wait til 12pm and pay £15 extra to check in early or be directed across the road to a local shop who will charge you an amount per bag to store your bag until you can traipse back to the hotel to check in. This policy is not a blanket policy for all Travelodge hotels (so some of their staff’s welfare is more important than others? London hotels tend to offer the service, at least the Waterloo one does. Anyway, bad show Travelodge Edinburgh. Very unsympathetic to your paying customers and a turn for the worse in terms of policy. You certainly excelled in NOT putting your customers at the heart of your business. If you have luggage and arrive before official check in time. think twice before booking this hotel.

We had the most horrendous 2 nights stay in the St Mary's St Edinburgh Travelodge 9th - 11th August '24! Both my partner and I were badly bitten by bed bugs. Travelodge eventually reimbursed us for the 2 nights stay but the physical (and mental) scars are still there... Beware!

Have stayed here previously and had a great experience - this previous trip was not as great. We were in a basement room which was a bit dingy, the bathroom was not well maintained - clean but with lots of historic stains in the grout etc which was pretty gross. The bed also was really thin and springy, and just overall not as nice as others I've had in the past. The window faced some dumpsters which is whatever, but we were woken up to a lot of noise at the crack of dawn each day. The breakfast was terrible as well - not well stocked and not many seats. Location for this hotel is great and have had some better stays here but the basement is notably worse than the rest of the hotel, unsure how to avoid in future!

I recommend this hotel to stay at your visit to Edinburgh as they have comfortable rooms , great location, welcoming staff like Luigi and fresh-hot breakfast. Luigi has been helped me with checking in and out, and always has a big smile on his face.

We booked a room here last minute and it was perfect Travelodge standards. Staff were friendly, room was clean, beds were super comfy, check in and out was really quick, and location was brilliant. First time visiting Edinburgh which is a beautiful city, would definitely stay in this Travelodge again.
