Zur Alten Mine

Our stay at Zur Alten Mine was certainly one of the best stays so far. The room was clean and offered everything we needed, even a wonderful fireplace to warm up in the evenings! Breakfast at Zur Alten Mine was amazing and so fresh! Delicious!! Definitely will be back for more and with more friends.

What a beautiful place. Felt like a home away from home. Beautiful property. The short walking trails around the property were beautiful. The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful with information in the area. The area felt very safe. We stayed in one of the family cottages and it was very comfortable and very cozy and homey. It was well equipped with the comforts of home (there was even a jar of fresh cookies/biscuits in the kitchen). The place was also very clean. I would highly recommend and the pictures do not do the place justice. It was much better being there in person.

Our family stayed in the Family Cottage and the Garden Cottage. The surroundings are fabulous, and the hostess is welcoming, kind and accommodating. My children loved exploring the dam, watching the fish and seeing the goats. The gardens are tranquil and the cottages are well appointed. The indoor fireplaces warm the whole cottage in the evenings and provide a welcoming atmosphere. The self-catering kitchens are well outfitted and there is a braai area at the Family Cottage. We did not have enough time to do the walk, although it sounded lovely. The Family cottage has an upstairs room, which the kids loved! The beds were comfortable. The shower has four different settings, which made the kids laugh, and was lovely. Breakfast was fabulous! Such an array of interesting options.

Delightful lodge, very comfortable and well equipped in a beautiful setting. Rainer and Walli were friendly and welcoming and provide an excellent continental style breakfast with home made bread and preserves and local cured meats. Best breakfast we had in South Africa!
