Konke Calafate Hotel

The hotel is near to the bus terminal which is a plus for nearby day trips eg. the glacier. But the walk to the main town area will be around 15 mins walk. The stay was comfortable enough.

At first, we were a bit worried—the hotel looks like a cheap motel from the outside and didn’t make a great first impression. But once we walked in, everything changed. The place was very clean, smelled fresh, and the rooms were surprisingly spacious and well maintained. You get everything you need, and it feels comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference. The only downside is the breakfast—it’s okay, you can eat, but nothing special. Overall, for the price, this place is a great deal. I would definitely recommend it.

I could not recommend this hotel less. Pros: - The staff is incredible, super kind and friendly. We needed to swap rooms when we first checked in and they were so patient in helping us make the swap. - They give you a welcome drink upon check-in Cons: - Location is far from the city centre, you need a car. However there is not even a nice view, so being far is not worth it - Had the worst sleeps of our entire Argentina trip here. All the rooms look out onto the main roads, there is no air conditioning or even fans in the rooms, so you have to open windows to let some air in and the surroundings are super noisy. The rooms are incredibly stuffy and warm, we opened the window as much as possible and slept on top of the covers and still sweated our way through both nights we stayed. Early in the morning, there are roadworks or maintenance works, so you are woken up to drilling and dust - Hot water availability is spotty at best. Sometimes steaming hot, sometimes you just have to suck it up with cold showers - Housekeeping needs more attention. Our Nespresso machine was not cleaned and were full of the previous guest’s old pods 🤮 - Walls are paper thin, we heard every move our neighbour made and every Adele song he sang too

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the bus station. However, as we were dragging our suitcases down a dark gravel road followed by several dogs, I was starting to fear I had the wrong directions. I think we must have taken the back way, however, as the hotel is actually on the corner of a main street (though granted, right on the edge of a dark residential street). It definitely has the feel of a nice mid-size conference hotel, and when we arrived, it seemed there were several tour groups gathered in the bar and restaurant areas. We were only here for one night, but our room was clean, modern, and spacious. I really liked the wood beam ceiling! The shower had great water pressure, though the bathroom itself was a little cramped. We were in a Double Room. The breakfast spread was awesome, and the grounds of the hotel – though we didn’t get a chance to explore them much – looked very nice. The hotel let us store our suitcases for the day while we took a day trip out to Perito Moreno Glacier. I’m glad we didn’t have a car, as the parking lot was very small.

For the price paid it was an ok stay. The hotel has 4 stars above the entrance but personally I would give it 3. Rooms were very clean with nice linen. There’s no A/C so in summer can get quite warm so we had to have the window open at night, this can get noisy with road noise and barking dogs! Hallways are tiled with no carpet so you get a lot of noise from doors banging and children running around. Shower was very good but you can’t have a bath as there are no plugs. Breakfast very basic. Bar service slow and not in a great location. Gym very small and pool not open until 12 noon!

Room is clean, bathroom is convenient, breakfast is just fine. It would be great if hotel stuff could give us more information about this area.

Konke is about 5 minutes from El Calafate downtown, offering quick, direct access to all downtown offers. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is continental, with an excellent assortment of pastries and good coffee. It has two floors, but no lift to second floor. Would select Konke again if we ever return to El Calafate.
