Cardon Adventure Resort

Cardon has a long history of being known to threaten violence and intimidate anyone surfing the point who is not staying at their resort. The problem is, unlike Patole, this is an open beach and has other lodging options, Mexican-owned and operated BTW, which are not only local but have been in existence for 25 years or more. A recent visit proved Cardon's reputation for ruining a wonderful surf experience is still warranted. One of the employee/owners, an American named Jeff, paddles around people, drops in on surfers, rants and raves in the lineup, and generally behaves like a mentally-ill patient on the corner of a city street. He's a slack-jawed troglodyte who, rather than rejoicing at being able to surf warm-water point waves every day, lives a miserable existence and wants to share his angst with everyone. On several occasions I witnessed him dropping in on his own guests. Or calling them into a wave and then deciding to go anyway. Eye rolls and head shake were the order of the session from guests. Or, if he suspects someone is staying at one of the Mexican establishments, he'll paddle up, give two-handed fingers, rant about how he's helping the community, and threaten to pummel the "intruder." He's unhinged and shouldn't be in the water at any break. Bottom line, though, Jeff knows his day of reigning the point is over. The Mexican business owners have banded together and made complaints to the authorities...all of the authorities. So, Jeff, wail and moan like the injured animal you are, but it won't stop surfers from paddling out at "Tiburon." In fact, many of us wouldn't pay to stay in your bro gringo camp when we can get a warm, friendly, authentic experience at one of the Mexican boutiques.
