Except that there is no air conditioning and the restaurant is not delicious, the rest are very good. The environment is first-rate, by the river. Cruise ship terminal. The ancient town is a short walk away and worth visiting. The room is relatively large, with bottled water and porcelain glass glasses, as well as a kettle, instant coffee. Very worth staying for a few days in a hotel, rare in Germany.

Just had a drink and pre dinner snack. Ordered a small borrel snack of charcuterie with cheese nuts and olives. It was a generous portion between us filling enough to not need much dinner when we arrived home in Lent. Friendly attentive personnel and plenty of them. We sat with our dog on the terrace which overlooks a luscious green field. We felt very welcome.

I stayed in the Landhaus Beckmann for nine nights during a recent work trip. Overall, it proved to be an excellent place to stay for a number of reasons. Firstly, location. Now the hotel is in a rural setting, ie, it's a bit remote. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I guess Kalkar is 5km away, and there's nothing in-between apart from countryside. But at the end of a long (13 hour) working day, I found its calmness and serenity most pleasant. Next the room. Quiet, very clean and comfortable. Well appointed, and lots of storage space.The only issue with the room was the temperature as the weather was particularly warm. With no air conditioning, it took a while to learn to manage the curtain and window opening and closing cycle to keep the room temperature as pleasant as possible. But I was working with many others in all the available accommodation in the area, and none seemed to have aircon. Maybe it's just the way things are done here? So onto food. Breakfast was relatively simple: cereals with some nuts and grains; red berries and fruit with yoghurts; cold meats and cheese and of course bread. Omlettes were cooked on request. But the breakfast was actually very good. I ate dinner at the hotel most evenings, and being able to sit outside and take advantage of the warm evenings was perfect. The restaurant is reviewed separately, but I found the menu, the servings and the staff to be excellent. I only ate dinner inside once, adjacent to the bar, when it was tipping down with rain. The staff were super: a really friendly and very efficient team who made me feel welcome during my stay. They gave the hotel more of a 'home from home' feel rather than a modern business hotel. And finally, amenities. Lots of car parking, very good wifi. I didn't use the spa as I was pretty busy and I don't really do spas. But I do run, and they were some highlighted routes for running or cycling available just past reception which was much appreciated to prevent me losing my way. Overall, a really pleasant stay, and maybe longer than the average through work! But if I'm here again, definitely would rebook.

I felt welcome here, also with dog! I have eaten here 2 times super, the portions are RUIM enough. My room was in the new building part and was clean and well-cared! A good bed, easy to operate TV, delicious shower, refrigerator. The only.. no airco. Window could be open far enough🙂 Have experienced the operation as very friendly and helpful. Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity

Unser Empfang war sehr freundlich, unser Zimmer schön und sehr sauber. Betten sehr bequem. Bodentiefe Dusche, alles sehr gepflegt. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat alles geboten, was man sich wünschen kann: Brötchen, Brot, Käse, Wurst, Marmelade sogar selbst gemacht, Obst und Gemüse, Eier, Saft, etc. Alles frisch und lecker. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig mit schönem Garten zum Sitzen und entspannen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, danke nochmals.
