Except that there is no air conditioning and the restaurant is not delicious, the rest are very good. The environment is first-rate, by the river. Cruise ship terminal. The ancient town is a short walk away and worth visiting. The room is relatively large, with bottled water and porcelain glass glasses, as well as a kettle, instant coffee. Very worth staying for a few days in a hotel, rare in Germany.

Unser Empfang war sehr freundlich, unser Zimmer schön und sehr sauber. Betten sehr bequem. Bodentiefe Dusche, alles sehr gepflegt. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat alles geboten, was man sich wünschen kann: Brötchen, Brot, Käse, Wurst, Marmelade sogar selbst gemacht, Obst und Gemüse, Eier, Saft, etc. Alles frisch und lecker. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig mit schönem Garten zum Sitzen und entspannen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, danke nochmals.

What can you say about exclusivity? There is no more of exclusivity. Gaps in the layers with the old blood and the dirty gardens and any kind of atmosphere is cut off in your hotel room. Even a cup in the bathroom to wash your mouth after tanning wasn't there. Eating was ridiculously expensive and the quality to cry. Tips for the cook: consider a career switch. The ”warm vegetables” screw looked like vegetables you're dressing out of the dust of the dish, enjoyed with a unclear wet of curry and coconut. Sashimi of sashimi had been better - three flattery thin sticks where my mother has become sick, and this hotel is also a temporary reception centre for asylum seekers. We haven't found any problems here, but communicate with your guests. Something with transparency? This is your duty as a million group, namely. It's good that you can offer asylum seekers a hot bed, but a little heads-up was good. Not everyone is served here. Take an example to your colleagues in Brabant, van der Valk. In spite of this, Nijmegen is a place very close to my heart and this hotel is very well located with comfortable rooms (although a little chilly as the air con is without a warming function - being a winter visit). As a frequent visitor of hotels, at least once every 6 to 8 weeks, this hotel will meet your needs and I do like the catering for business such as a desk in each room as well as the fridge and kettle provisions. The unadvertised charge of 54% extra (out of pocket) being the main gripe, which is in no relation to City Tax or Service Charge which is ok. This overall would otherwise be a reasonably 'ok' stay.

Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity
