It is a popular business hotel around Toki and Mizunami, and it seems that there are many people related to work. I made a reservation because there are many better rooms than standard rooms in Route Inn, but I didn't feel particularly good except that it was on the upper floors with a good view and the large beds. I thought it would be okay to have a standard room. It's a little disappointing that there are few attractive restaurants in the area.

This Ryokan was perfectly situated: very near the station but not too close. What I loved about this Ryokan was that it was a modern, chic version of an old Japanese Ryokan. My room was light, fresh and spacious. The Ryokan was new, 2 years old, so it had the mod cons whilst being very aware of being eco friendly. As to be expected in Japan it was spotlessly clean and the staff were incredibly attentive. Although not fluent in English, they made every attempt to communicate through Google translate etc. I felt very welcomed here. I highly recommend this Ryokan and would definitely return.

We had an unforgettable stay at Nagataki. The staff is so gracious, extending such warm hospitality from our pickup at the train station, luggage transport to our house, yakata dressing assistance, dinner and breakfast service, and dropoff in Magome. One staff member even gave my daughter an excellent in-room massage after dinner, capping off a relaxing evening. Our 100-year-old house was charming, with not only a kotatsu and irori inside but also beautiful views of the mountains outside. My only suggestion would be to replace the kerosene heater with an electric one so avoid the odor.

The hardware is not necessarily the best, but the software is top-notch. There is a girl who speaks English at the front desk, and there are waiters who can speak Chinese in the restaurant. Communication is no problem. Before check-in, I sent an email in English to inquire about check-in and food requirements, and then there is one in the lounge. We stayed here one night at the end of a walk along the Nakasendo way from Magome to Tsumago. The hotels shuttle bus picked us up. It’s about 20 minutes drive. I was given a choice of yukata to wear, but not my husband (as if he cared anyway!) We had a Japanese style room with a small balcony and after a delicious dinner in our own little dining cubicle, we came back to our room to find futons laid out on the floor. We didn’t try the onsen and unfortunately the private onsen was fully booked until 10pm. Breakfast was also Japanese cuisine. The serving staff were delightful. There is a guest lounge where you can help yourself to tea and coffee and newspapers. We were driven to the train station after breakfast. I’m not sure what other activities are available if you were to stay longer. One slight negative- the ensuite bathroom in our room was a bit dated. Overall, it was a great experience.
