L'Albereta, the place of the heart, like all great loves, cannot be discussed. And yet. As a loyal guest I cannot help but point out some critical issues which, if I didn't have experience under my belt, I perhaps would not have noticed. But this "house" in Franciacorta is not a hit-and-run hotel nor a stopover on the way to something else, if anything it is a place to which you return. And let's go in order, the welcome. Given that finding a bottle in your bucket in your room is like hearing "I missed you", on the contrary not finding it is more like "have you come back? Ah OK". It costs nothing to pamper the guest, also because the guest himself does not expect the aforementioned bottle to be a "gift"; the meaning is, "find a way to make me pay but don't take away the feeling that you're really happy to see me again". Together with the bottle, which doesn't seem like a pretension, it is equally pleasant to find the teddy bear, the personalized blanket for my dog (which for me is the most important affection), a personalized welcome home... In short, everything we are, more or less all of us, accustomed to receiving when we go to visit our parents, or our grandparents, for those who still have them. Let's move on to something else, the restaurant. I knew that the chef had changed, and I had come to terms with it, but obliterating the schnitzel from the "classics" was a shock. It's true that every chef rightly has his own cuisine, but like other classics that have been preserved, it was a real shame to eliminate this one from the menu. Even the dining room had a bit of uncertainty, particularly at dinner, and not everything about the kitchen convinced us; small slips, nothing major. But it takes a moment to get used to excellence, as well as to notice the decline in attention. On this I must therefore thank two special people, who caught a veil of disappointment in my eyes and, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, were able to dissolve it. Roberta and Irene knew how to take us by the hand, like the first time we arrived at Albereta, and made us forget everything that (for the first time) had made us notice a lack of attention. The professionalism of these two people, who in my personal opinion embody the essence of hospitality, made it possible to see how, even in the midst of change, professionalism and affection always make the difference. Last but not least, a mention for dear Nicola, whose attentive and ever-present eye leaves the gourmet experience in our favorite restaurant intact! So it is, and I'm sure it will be. Good work and see you soon.
