Before I get to Dar Yan specifically, it's important to mention that we'd STRONGLY recommend the idea of flying to Errachidia one way if visiting the Merzouga desert, The flight mostly eliminates the 8-10 hours of driving from Marrakech or Casablanca. We were able to book the flight from Casablanca for about US $30 per person one way and had no issues with it. We arrived in Errachidia late at night. We even spent an hour or two in the morning after breakfast exploring the town of Errachidia (a short walk away) before beginning our tour at about 1pm. The town was pleasantly non-touristy--check out the stand that serves sugar cane and lemon juice. As for Dar Yan, it is terrific. Younes is an excellent host. We easily met up with him at the airport for the short drive. Our room was ready, and it was immaculate and comfortable. Beds throughout all of our accommodations in Morocco are harder than we're used to in the U.S., but the bed was nonetheless comfortable and we slept great. The wifi worked well. The breakfast was great--a traditional Moroccan pancake/crepe accompanied by a variety of honeys, jams, cheeses, plus eggs and a beverage. In the room, we struggled a little bit to figure out the water in the bathroom (e.g., how to activate the sink and get the right shower temperature), but no issue. Younes himself couldn't have been more kind, welcoming, or friendly. He is a gracious and accommodating host. Highly recommended!
