I have known the Hugenpoet since childhood and never thought I would be able to praise the price-performance ratio there, but I can do so for the bistro in the coach house, and gladly. An appealing dinner including wine for under €150 is possible and you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of the property (not at the Laurushaus back then). Only the well-trained gourmet or those who want/need to impress their companions should go to the 1831. Special greetings to the people of Hösel: It doesn't always have to be Düsseldorf and anyone who brakes too late coming out of the serpentine not only ignores the right of way but also inevitably thunders into the driveway to the Hugenpoet. The white wine that was initially served at room temperature was annoying and the service offered everything from an older Frenchman with the finest manners to a lady who, when asked if I would like a cognac, reacted very cheekily to my counter-question as to whether this was intended as an invitation: Original quote: "If I want a cognac, I don't care who pays for it". However, I have already reported this to the hotel itself in the hope that it will be discussed internally. In any case, please don't be afraid to contact them, the Hugenpoet is an experience and you can spend 500 euros for 2, even without any effort. But you don't have to. Stephan Platzek

Best rum steak ever eaten - good atmosphere - very friendly service - the menu is unusual - the food is worth the money - we will be back - asparagus season is already very good in March - good champagne - attentive but not intrusive.

We went there as a couple for breakfast. The ambience is really beautiful, very dignified and well-kept. The breakfast room has a wonderful view of the park and in summer you can sit outside. The table was already set with a selection of bread, rolls and croissants, as well as a tiered stand with a selection of sausages and cheese. That was the first thing that bothered me. I am a vegetarian and had asked for the sausage plate to be replaced. According to hygiene regulations, the sausage plate should actually be thrown away and you didn't know how long the food had been there. What a waste and really extremely annoying! The selection was really pretty poor. You can of course reorder some things from the breakfast menu. The fruit salad consisted of apple, orange and pineapple, so it wasn't very extensive. The avocado was served plain, no decoration, no lemon juice or anything. Only the eggs Benedict were really excellent and the best I have ever eaten. The service was very nice but not a single plate was cleared away. We had to stack them at the table and that didn't look very nice either. In the end we paid about 120€ and were incredibly disappointed.

We had ordered breakfast for our birthday party of 4 people. But we were served ONE breakfast (a tiered stand with small individual appetizers, one of each type) and we were told that we could order more if that wasn't enough. This meant that every item on the tiered stand automatically became a polite gesture because no one wanted to eat the others' food. Despite our doubts being expressed several times, we stayed that way. We were actually billed for 4 breakfasts at EUR 36.00 each. The mood was completely ruined, and many people still consider "ordering more" to be inappropriate. This is exactly how they make money here. If I pay for four breakfasts, I want to get four breakfasts.
