Motel 6 Eureka, CA – Redwood Coast
3.4/542 Reviews
I traveled from IL, through the high western states of South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, so 3,000 miles staying at Motel 6 franchises before finding this one. EUREKA! I found THE BEST Motel 6 location in EUREKA, CA! It may sound like a corny pun, but before getting here, I stayed in VERY BAD rooms with towel rods broken and laying on the floor, the inside panel peeled off the bathroom door AND no ice machine, no WiFi working even though advertised. And all of these problems were at just one location! I found the standard is VERY LOW at most Motel 6 franchises. How refreshing to walk in the room here, in EUREKA! It is very clean, AND very updated! I mean to say the room is an upgrade from the surfaces and fixtures I have at home. Bedside tables have multiple ports built in for electric outlets and USB ports, two of each (four) on ever table. The desk area accommodates computer cords with cord accommodating inserts. Mirrors are well framed and are beveled, nice updated flooring, even the walls have a nice fresh pebbled surface with contemporary paint scheme. And the bathroom, WOW! A very upscale full-sized bathtub with shower and upscale shower head.) All furniture is a nice dark finish and open concept so you can easily see where things are and access them. When you stay multiple nights, housekeeping stops in, to empty garbage, reset towels and refresh toiletries. That attention to detail I NEVER experienced at any location! Maybe I saved the best for last, there is a tall mini fridge AND a microwave in the room!! The microwave holds the correct time, a REAL help when you've traveled through multiple time zones. I immediately went back to the office to express how WONDERFUL the room was! They mentioned that the owners are local. I think the improvements will continue because there looked to be extensive remodeling of more rooms going on. It appeared that they are significantly increasing handicapped rooms. In all honesty, the outside of the building and parking lot could use updating, but this location is definitely focusing on the elements travelers would appreciate most! If bookings increase, they can likely update the exterior. In all fairness, I did not stay in another motel in Eureka for comparison. Other motels may be this attentive to travelers, but honestly, if you know how good the accommodations are here, why even stop at other places in the area? One last point I just recalled, at first check in, people were fighting in the room next to me, loud voices, vulgar language. I mentioned this to the lobby attendant when I complemented the room, and he immediately called the occupants. By the time I went back to the room, all was quiet!

I was a part of the Mario Murillo tent revival where many people were set free made whole and delivered from many chains and bondages! Your hotel was great for location and peace thank you and blessings too😊
Carter House Inns

While traveling on business, my husband and I chose the Carter House Inn as we were going to be traveling through the Eureka area. We chose this place specifically because it was in the Select Registry book of excellent bed-and-breakfast. The Select Registry chooses top-notch bed-and-breakfast’s after visiting secretly and grading them on everything. This was our third Select Registry bed-and-breakfast and we were expecting the same high-level of everything that we had experienced in the first two. Unfortunately this one didn’t live quite up to our expectations. The staff is wonderful and friendly and helpful. No complaints there. The young woman brought us lovely glasses of wine and sparkling mineral water upon our late arrival. However, we were disappointed with the continental breakfast which was pretty bad. Also we stayed in the Grand Suite and it has two fireplaces which neither of them worked. It was raining and we were told that it was because of the storm and the wind. The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were extremely terrible. We were so glad we had brought our own pillows. One other thing is the window between the bed and the bathroom-very strange and a little annoying. The place is beautiful, well appointed but as a previous reviewer stated the area is quite sketchy and we were also told not to leave any thing in our car and lock it up tight. We were supposed to have a view of the bay which we did not. The window looks out over a bunch of old buildings and we might have been able to see the harbor on a little corner but it was a cloudy day and foggy and we couldn’t see anything. Overall I’d say we were not impressed and we will not be staying here again. A side note: the woman on staff in the morning noticed that I had left my jacket in the dining room and called me right away so we could come back for it. She was so sweet as are the other staff members we talked to. They are all lovely people.

I got there after dark and the first room I was given was upstairs and they don't have an elevator so I asked for a ground level room. The desk clerk was very nice about switching my room at no extra expense but the first room I was assigned was rather isolated and I wasn't comfortable with that. The desk clerk kindly switched my room again to a better room on the ground level at no extra charge. I really appreciated their willingness to get me a room that I was comfortable in at no extra charge.

The room was a little tired, but everything was clean. Having chargers for EVs was a nice touch, but the parking lot is really tight if you have a minivan or pick-up. Most of the rooms on are on the second floor, and there's no elevator. The worst thing is the check-in. There was no attendant. Everything was done via an off-shore call center, and the connection was wonky. Given his accent, I guessed that the attendant was in the Philippines, but when I asked him where he was, and all he would say was that he was in the ”back-up office.” It doesn't really matter where he was if the check-in was done via an online kiosk, but his dodging the question was weird. We had a family suite, which was nice to have the girls in another room for a change instead of in the adjoining bed. Overall, the hotel was a decent place to stay for the price.
Days Inn by Wyndham Eureka CA

The room was nice and we felt safe staying in the hotel. Parking is secure and free, which was nice. We were charged a deposit, which had not been returned to us over a week after our visit. We didn’t damage the room and haven’t been advised as to why our deposit had not been refunded. We left before trying their grab n go breakfast because we were awakened at 3am by a barking dog in another room. The dog didn’t quiet down so we made the decision to leave.
