Booked here to stay for a wedding, location and scenery was brilliant. Checked in and was told we were staying in the castle part of the hotel made our way from the reception to castle and got a bit lost within castle sign posting was poor. I decided to ask a member a staff if he could assist and his reply was " i dont know where that room is, i cant help you and walked off we then asked another member of staff and she said the rooms were all the top floor. On our way to the rooms there was flys everywhere on the spiral staircase and wallpaper ripped off the wall. Enter the room it didnt appear to be very clean, no television, missing buttons from the phone, window didnt open at first and when we got it open there was no way of keeping it open and there was no toilet roll within the room aswell as a few flys circling the room. Called reception numerous times with no answer, asked when we went down to wedding reception we mentioned about having no toilet roll and was assured it would has been delivered by end of the night. After the wedding at 1am we arrived back with no toilet roll. When we called reception to ask again we were told it was waiting and we needed to come and get it. Had to run to the other building in the rain and to collect toilet roll and at this point we decided enough enough and requested a move of room which at first the receptionists was reluctant however manage to do this and we finally got into another room at 2am to call it a night. Whole place was poorly sign posted, had holes in the corridor wall as if it was missing lights and at reception when checking out no real concern about our experience at the hotel. Overall a very poor experience and other guest had more to say about there rooms at breakfast.

friends 50th birthday. At check in only one room of 2 was ready so we headed along to the room. The room was anything but ready no pillows or duvet on beds. Furniture was a disgrace and certainly not 4* , more fit for the dump. We went back to reception and other rooms were found for us. I can only say these rooms were slightly better with damp stains on lamp shade, marks on the walls, curtains didn’t meet in the middle. On the way to the rooms at 3:40pm the corridors were full of dirty dishes/glasses, empty bottles and laundry. You expect to see this in the morning as your leaving but certainly not at that time of day when you have checked in. Staff helpful. On request the manager came to our room to discuss the issues with us. Wouldn’t go back.

If I could give minus-10 stars I would. What an absolute shambles of a hotel. Allows you to book Dinner, Bead & Breakfast yet there’s no staff or chef to offer food, yep..... advised at 5pm the restaurant is closed. Check-in at 3pm yet rooms not ready until after 5pm as no maids available to clean rooms. First room was not fit for purpose, moved to another room, not fit for purpose but better than first..... now waiting on a fold-bed for our son and still not here after 5hrs. Mr Steven McLeod, you are a disgrace to keep this place running as a hotel. Filthy, dangerous, understaffed, just a few words of description. Staff a joke, but trying their best..... What a shame, been coming to this hotel for 30 years and this is the lowest of the low, it must be sold on to someone that can give it some love.... so much potential and staff willing to try...... time to let this hotel move to better hands!!! A few photos attached to show just how bad this hotel is..... blood on the curtains, beds falling apart, lights falling off the wall, sockets missing..... it’s endless!!!!!

Airth was always our go-to favourite. Its only 45minutes from home and always had some cracking dinner, bed & breakfast deals. February half term holidays and we secured a B&B deal for 2ad&2ch for £54 on ***********. Great price. Hotel room was very tired (curtains hanging off rails, threadbare carpets, marked furniture) i knew the hotel was full and due to how little we paid i didnt bother complaining. Reception girls were lovely, bubbly & helpful! Dinner was awful (al a carte menu) - overcooked, dry, chewy ox cheek that had to be sent back to heat up and freezing cold, obviously previously frozen sirloin steak. So disappointed as food has always been fab on previous visits. Drink prices are very high now too. Pool was ok, water was quite murky. After chatting with someone who is staying at the hotel tonight i can confidently say that this hotel will not survive the next month. The chef has walked out, leaving the hotel tonight having to refund people for dinner package deals and pay for peoples takeaways and supply chocolate bars and free drinks to guests. It is a sinking ship that is going down fast. Such a shame as I have been a regular visitor for 14yrs now. Hopefully it will be snapped up by another buyer and turned around to its former glory.

Very mismanaged and dirty hotel. There was blood stains on the wall in the bedroom and everything was dirty. Staff were unprofessional and did not care about their guests. Horrible experience and would not go back

My boyfriend booked this place as it was nearby Edinburgh Airport and also on our way home (I was after long flight). Castle looks impressive when you drive in, at hotel we checked in (staff were nice and friendly) and headed to the room. When I walked in to the room it was obvious it needs to be updated, all furnitures old and just looking tired, tv with little screen. I was glad that I had flip flops from my travel with me as I wouldn't walk on that carpet with bare feet/socks. Carpet definitely needs to be replaced, likewise in all hotel (lift in bad state too). The most disturbing was mould in a bathroom, I can't understand how you can offer a room in such a state, we are in XXI century in high developed country...? there should be some inspection for that hotel definitely. Mould on tiles, shower head, around bath was just disgusting. Very patchy wifi - I had to stand/sit in certain places to get it, I didn't have any wifi while I was laying in bed. Also the last thing was there is literally no insulation/soundproof as we could hear even conversation which next room had..not raised voices, just usual conversation. I don't eat greasy breakfast, so there was no really alternative for me. Only some cornflakes and little pastry and little jams. No cheese, ham, lettuce, fresh veg. Disappointing. On good side I had nice dinner and staff apologized when I said about mould in bathroom (doesn't really do anything, room should be renovated in a first place).

we came here because of a trip to Falkirk and boness. breakfast was good and the staff were really nice. the pool was the best part of the whole experience the staff always gave us towels after our swim the sauna and steam room were really nice too. anyway the room was reasonable it was clean but the bath had a couple of scrapes along the bottom so they paint had chipped away and the bed sheet had a rip in it otherwise clean and pretty nice

We had a "guaranteed" reservation, as part of a larger trip. This place just unilaterally canceled it, with no advanced warning. Ridiculous. Out of nowhere, I just got a message: "Your booking was canceled." Don't book here. They will screw you.

We have just stayed overnight at Airth Castle to be part of our friends wedding celebration. We were a bit nervous based on some of the recent reviews but we needn’t have been as we had such a wonderful time from start to finish. The Wedding in the castle itself was magnificent - a great backdrop for such an important day. The reception was held in the main hotel function suite and again it was magnificently decorated. Every single staff member from the start to finish of our visit was fantastic, friendly, welcoming and proficient. Sure the rooms are a wee bit tired but they are entirely functional - clean, spacious and lots of hot water from the excellent shower. Breakfast was really nice and good quality ingredients. Thanks to all the staff for our highly enjoyable overnight stay ( especially the lovely barmaid who went about half a mile to the store cupboard to get him some apple juice 🙂 )
