Just a quick getaway for a snowboarding weekend. Evenings were very quiet and although the property is older, it was very warm and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and understanding.

Do NOT book through the Value Inn website. They charged about 38% tax, AND double billed us. We cancelled due to the tax but were unable to get the double bill corrected and had to go through our credit card company. We rebooked through the hotel desk, saving $110 on two nights. On arrival, all rooms (our family had three rooms) were marginally clean. Our bathroom smelled of urine, and the floor was so dirty I had to wash my feet before getting into bed. The lower floor windows all had dog nose prints. When requested, the staff did clean our bathroom (even replaced the caulking around the toilet) and Swiffered the floor. The location at the edge of town is about six blocks to shops etc. The river walk that goes around the perimeter of Fernie is half a block from the motel. The free breakfast is yogurt, bananas, dry cereal. I would not choose this place again.

We were there for KIJHL hockey and this property is within walking distance. There are also eatery's nearby. The only negative really was the quality of the bed. We were only there for 1 night so was ok.

I know this is a hotel on the budget friendly spectrum when I booked it, but I did not expect to have a bathtub that still have other people’s hair left it in. And the laminate on the bath tub is “bubbling up” when I step into the tub for a shower, there is a bump of material separated from the tub itself. Mattress was thin and I could almost felt the springs that’s supporting me. No duvet was provided; a wool blanket was sandwich between a flat sheet and a cover sheet.
In the middle of the night, the microwave’s plug some how got loose from the wall plug(perhaps from the light vibration from the mini fridge) and made a beeping sound which woke me up.
Walls are very thin, I could hear the person using the toilette next door to me.
Budget friendly, yes, but that’s about it
