We chose Hawksbill after looking around for a place to stay for our anniversary. We like all-inclusives, and we like to try new places. In fact we've never been to the same place twice. 100% will return. No question. First, the staff. I don't know that I've ever been to a place with friendlier, more helpful, awesome staff. They absolutely are the best. From the constant and genuine greetings (Good morning! How are you?) to their ability to answer questions or help get things, they are amazing. We chose Hawksbill in part because of what others had said about the staff, and I'm not kidding when I say that no review comes close to expressing how welcome they made us (and everyone we talked to) feel. 5/5 stars for the staff. A particular shoutout to Errol, a great guy who knows how to make a martini. Although (because?) we are from the US, we enjoyed being among the few Americans at the place. We travel abroad often, and have lived outside of the US, to it was nice meeting people from (mostly) the UK. We had a good time sitting on the patio having drinks and chatting with folks. At the same time, when we wanted to sit on our own that worked out too. 5/5 stars for the atmosphere with other guests. This place is *quiet*. There was entertainment each night, but as their website states, it's not the place for a party atmosphere. It was quiet and relaxing. There were plenty of things to do (sailing, kayaks, snorkeling, swimming, tennis, the pool), so it wasn't boring. I swam out to and around Hawksbill rock most every day. Spotted an 18th-century cannon on the way. The resort was quiet, which was great. 5/5 for atmosphere and things to do. The food was fine. It's not a high-end cuisine, and we didn't go in expecting that. Breakfast got a bit repetitive, but we knew that going in. There was good variety in dinners, if not an overwhelming amount of choice. But it's also the off-season, so they might not have been geared up for big-kitchen presentations. Lunch at the Sea Grapes was very good. 4/5 stars for food. We were given a room upgrade, probably because of the anniversary and the off-season low occupancy. The room was one that had not yet been renovated. We had no real expectations in that area, and we weren't disappointed. Some things could improved in renovations, like making the showers less awkwardly cramped, and moving the toilet off a stand one has to climb up to be able to sit down. But we didn't spend much time in the room anyway, so it didn't matter. 3/5 stars for the room we were in, though we understand the renovated rooms are quite nice. We rented a car for the week, which gave us the freedom to drive around the island. 1/5 stars for road maintenance in Antigua. Yikes. I think that Antigua doesn't have traffic signals and signs so much as social conventions. I've driven all over the world, and still it took a couple of days for me to relax as a driver. 2/5 for traffic rules. On our drive-abouts we visited the C&C Wine House in St. Jo
