We booked an oversize king room. We asked for the West Tower on the sixth floor. When we checked in we did get a room on the 6th floor but in the East Tower. Now we don't like the East Tower as the views aren't as nice as the West Tower. Also, we did request a specific room in the West Tower. But the room was nice. We did enjoy it. There was a continental breakfast that was served and we went down to the restaurant for this. We got to the restaurant at about 9:00 am and the room was crowded. We did find a place to sit and I went to go and get my husband and me a glass of orange juice and there wasn't any. Most of the food was gone. There was cereal available, I don't know about milk. They only offered omelets with peppers in it and some sausage links. There wasn't much of this available. I ate a couple of sausage links. I don't do omelets or peppers. I was going to get a bagel and fruit, they were out of that also. My husband said that his omelet was cold as were my sausage links, his were too. There were still people coming in at 9:30 am for breakfast and the staff was cleaning up and putting the appliances and food away. We didn't go back for breakfast for the rest of our stay. I will say that the views at this hotel overlooking the river are amazing and that is what we were there for. This hotel is old and is in need of a lot of updating. We have been coming to this hotel for about 12 + years and nothing has changed. The rooms are looking tired, and old. They are not updated to accept a lot of the electronics that we all have today to charge. I do take a USB outlet that I plug into the wall so that we can plug our phones, hearing aids, computers, and other electronics into it to charge them. I would also suggest a new a/c system for the rooms as they weren't as cold as we would have liked.

This was not the nicest Holiday Inn, but our stay was fine. Our room on the 4th floor was clean and smelled fresh. The man working at the front desk was friendly and helpful in getting help right away when we had a clogged toilet in the room. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great. I with there was free breakfast but there's a Dunkin Donuts next door to the hotel which was convenient. The pool was freezing but that didn't deter my 8 year old!

We love this location right in the middle of downtown Fort Myers, Florida. We've stayed here a few times, including before the recent renovation. There is a an interesting variety of rooms with different layouts which we enjoyed. This time we chose a King room with balcony and city view. The balcony is small but big enough for 2 people and while it does have an ok ”city view,” it also looks down upon another roof below with all the air conditioners (something we do not like when paying extra for a ”view”). However, you can also see the river along with a bit of Patio DeLeon, in the middle of downtown Fort Myers. At night, is where the view shines with all the colorful lighting and usual music can be heard from live musicians. This room is fairly large for a boutique hotel with a larger than usual TV. However, the TV and dresser on which it sits are oddly placed in a corner at an angle, and pretty far from the bed detracting from the size of the screen. Programming is not in HD and also not set to the correct proportions (everything was vertically compressed) and the remote does not allow adjustments for this. It has a nice kitchenette area with a mini fridge but no microwave which we thought it should have given the price for the room and how inexpensive small microwaves cost (It may have been an option but it should already be there). Shower is very nice but every 30 seconds the water pressure dropped, then climbed back up - no biggie, just odd. Toilet paper seemed cheap for this type of hotel but all other items seemed to match this type of hotel. You have to pay $3 per bottle for the 2 bottles that are already in the room. It's like ”nickel and diming” for something as inexpensive as bottled water - like having no microwave, it takes away from the experience given the price of the room. Some light fixtures were not fully seated into the ceiling and like most hotels, the air vent in the bathroom had visible dust (I realize most people don't even look at these things, but I tend to notice it). The bed, although newer, was very firm, and not what we typically find in an upscale hotel. The walls are ”thin” allowing sounds from outside and adjacent rooms to be heard which is just an observation, not necessarily a negative. Front desk personnel were friendly, professional and helpful. Parking options are basically valet or one of 2 nearby parking garages. One parking garage is literally across the street which worked great for us at a lot less than using valet - pros and cons to each. The ice machine on our floor was not working which requires you to acquire ice on another floor (we were on the 7th floor - the top floor). There is a nice little rooftop bar which has a similar view of the city as our room but a little higher. The bar area has decent seating with a good mix of small couches, chairs and high top tables. We did not eat or have room service during this stay but it's available. Overall, it's a very nice, small hotel in an ideal, convenient location and we will definitely go back.

My partner and I made this reservation several months before our date of arrival. A couple of weeks before our arrival, we called the property itself and requested a room on a higher floor, with a balcony, so that we could view the fireworks without leaving the comfort of our room. We were assured that our request would be honored. Upon checking in, we were assigned a first floor room with a small patio that afforded absolutely no privacy whatsoever, and not much of a river view either. Neither was the room particularly clean, carpeting in Florida is always iffy; and this carpet was so nasty that I couldn’t walk on it barefooted. In general, I found the housekeeping to be lax. The worst problem was the plumbing; the commode required at least three flushes to empty and the sink didn’t drain properly……it nearly overflowed while we brushed our teeth and while my companion shaved. The doors opened directly to the outside and not to a corridor, and the door itself had a relatively good size hole at the bottom of it. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were fine, the towels were fluffy, but all in all not one of Best Western‘s better hotels. We probably would not stay again.

GGuest UserThe location is perfect, it's very close to Bell Tower, Dave & Buster's and many good restaurants. And it's also only 20 mins from Downtown. In general, the hotel is clean. However, I found a little hair on the toilet, I have to use a disinfection wipe to clean it by myself. Besides that, the fitness center is big enough and the swimming pool is also nice.

GGuest UserI wanted to love this place enough to give it 5 stars, but I just can’t. If it weren’t for the staff, I would have given it 1 star. Every staff member I encountered was TOP NOTCH. Maria in the kitchen and Samuel at the front desk were OUTSTANDING. We had several issues with our reservation; enough to make us decide to never stay here again. We were given the wrong room when we checked in. When we finally got the right room, there was a lot of hair all over the floor & sink in the bathroom. The sofa bed was broken, contributing to a miserable night’s sleep (the VERY LOUD AC/heating unit didn’t help either). There were no sheets on the sofa bed and when I inquired, I was handed a bed in a bag and told to make the bed myself. I reserved a room for 3 people so there was no reason for them to not make up the bed in advance. The only trash can in the entire suite was in the bathroom, there foolishly wasn’t one in or near the kitchenette area. You have to walk across the room to turn the light on when you enter the 2nd room. This was challenging in the dark. There’s a switch when you first walk in, but there was no light connected to it. We were glad we only planned to stay 1 night. I can’t believe we had to pay for this misery. We have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations and had expected the same quality we’ve had at other locations. Boy were we wrong!

GGuest UserThe staff here was the best thing this hotel has going for it. That is really the only positive thing I have to say about my stay there. The shuttle doesn’t start running until 10:30 am. When I arrived around 11, they didn’t have a room so I went to the pool to sit and wait. The pool area was fine, but the furniture is pretty beat up. I went back inside after a while and heard person after person checking out complaining about dirty rooms, smells, and loud noise at night. It became clear that this is not just an airport hotel, but also a low rent living situation for a few people. The front desk staff eventually got a room cleaned for me so I could check in early. My room was definitely not what I expected based on the photos. Paint was chipped, the shower was not clean and had mildew all around the seams. The room smelled musty. The pillows were the size of throw pillows you’d put on your sofa. Very bizarre. I realize that it’s cheap and it’s near the airport so one can’t expect a first-class experience and I don’t go into it with those expectations. However, I wouldn’t stay there again.

GGuest UserWe stayed one night. When checking in, the front desk person could not find my rate and tried to tell me if was a higher rate. This should have been my first clue as to the type of hotel it is. Going into the room, it was medium clean, but we were only staying one night and less than 12 hours so we thought we could survive. It wasn't until the next morning that we saw there was no soap for a shower, which would have been ok as I had some with me, but the water pressure was terrible, and this was at 6 am. We passed on a shower, packed our bags and went to breakfast. I told the front desk clerk and she made a production about writing down the room number and they would check out the water pressure. I also mentioned that there was no soap. She said that we could have requested another room, but they did know there wasn't enough soap available because the order didn't come in. (hello, you're by a large city; aren't there any supercenters around?) Then we ate breakfast, not a very good one, and no juice available in the machine -- what's wrong with buying plastic containers and putting the juice in a small dispenser? When we sat down, the table next to us was laughing at what I'd said to the desk clerk. They had so little water pressure that it took 20 minutes to wash out the soap in their hair! As we talked to them, they had the same complaints we did. We finished packing the car and checked out. I asked for a receipt and we had a charge for a wall safe that we never used. I asked for it to be taken off and she did so reluctantly. I will check my credit card bill to make sure this happened. All in all, I would never stay there again. I called corporate and complained, and I just received an email (not very professionally written and full of misspellings and grammar mistakes) stating that I received a discounted rate and they were not going to discount the room any more. I think I've convinced my husband that the cheapest hotel is not necessarily the way to go. Remember, you get what you pay for.
