I've stayed at a few Motel Ones and one thing they seem to get right is a consistent experience, which is just enough not to be low cost but also enough that you don't mess your budget up. I think anyone expecting space and luxury should look elsewhere, this hotel is designed for a place to sleep, get things done and get out there. The beds are comfortable, WiFi is on point, TV does what it needs to and the bathroom and bedroom space although small is adequate for a solo traveller, couples may struggle as it's a tight fit. It's also right on top of the city centre and not far from the train/bus station, breakfast is the usual European cold cuts with coffee/tea plus cereals, but local food is so nearby that you might want to opt for that instead, it can also get very busy on later breakfast times. I'd ignore a couple of reviewers here who only have posted 1 or 2 contributions and aren't regular users of TripAdvisor but other regular TA users have commended how good it is, of which I agree. I loved and enjoyed both my stays here, and it's comfortable and does the job. Consistent as always Motel One.

My stay at Central Hotel Freiburg was extremely pleasant, the rooms are clean and all staff are very friendly and helpful, starting from the receptionists at the desk who always welcome you with a big smile, up to the waiters at the restaurant and the generator, who was very kind during my late night check out. Central Hotel Freiburg, you make your guests feel like staying home, and there is noting better you can do.

Beautiful hotel with everything needed for a short trip. Coffee and tea were available free.
Unfortunately, the lady was unfriendly at the weekend and made it difficult for us to check in. We would prefer to cancel the accommodation immediately, which was not possible. All other staff were premature and helpful, and we have still enjoyed the stay.

The room is small, clean and hygienic, and the front desk service attitude is also good. It's really close to the Freiburg train station, and the hotel is just outside platform 1. It's very convenient to catch the train. One thing is unavoidable, there is the sound of the train announcing the station...

What a find this was......... Easily accessible from the rail station & only a short walk from the city centre. Rooms are not the largest, but are thoughtfully designed with excellent storage and very adaptable lighting. Beds are very comfortable & there are external shutters to give a 'blackout' effect. Showers are easy to operate with a more than adequate stream & steady temperatures. But what really sets this place apart is the staff -- from management down there is a 'can-do' attitude which makes a stay here absolutely stress-free. A special shout-out to the gentleman manning the breakfast room during our stay -- polite, cheerful & nothing was too much trouble.

The aparthotel is located just outside the city center in a newer area where all the buildings are new and there is still a lot of construction going on. The location was quiet and I really liked it.
Supermarkets and trams nearby.
The room was clean and absolutely sufficient for me.
Only points of criticism:
Nespresso machine available but no capsule. Capsules are available in packs of 10 in supermarkets. For a stay of 2 days rather nothing.
No kettle.
The mattresses were hard and the pillows so soft that one could have slept without them.
I would book here again for 1-2 nights.

Very nicely furnished rooms with enough deposit facilities. The sticks had USB-A ports installed. Also two good seating facilities in the room. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Only the huge picture of a woman in the bathroom first unusual, after a short habitual phase then also OK. The bathroom was also large, just as the shower. Very much space for cultural bag and co to deposit. We would definitely come back. Parking with € 19 per night may be a little expensive.

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our 5 days 4 nights trip to the Alsace areas. This was our first stop. The hotel located in a quiet area but within walking distance to the super market, many restaurants, bakeries, etc. However a car is needed to reach the city center. The room is simple but modern, clean, roomy with nice seating area and A/C. The complimentary breakfast was average but it is a nice bonus though. The staff was friendly and helpful. Because of the reasonable price, the complimentary breakfast and the services, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

SSunnyLaChienneThe Hotel Stadt Freiburg is a lovely, modern property, well-designed and visually appealing. So it's a shame that the quality of the staff seems not to match the quality of the property. At check-in, there was nary a welcome nor smile to be had, and we were given the distinct impression that our presence was an imposition on the very unfriendly person checking us in. ”Curt” would be a polite way to describe the experience, but ”downright rude” would be more accurate. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, but none of us slept well on the extra-hard beds with a duvet that kept sliding off in the night because it's too small to tuck in. Perhaps a blessing in disguise, since the rooms are horribly overheated. This hotel ticks all the boxes for its four-star rating, but not a jot or tittle more than that. The hotel also claims to be pet-friendly, but beware if you bring Fido along. There's a hefty supplement. Your pet is allowed in the lobby restaurant, but if you bring it to breakfast, you are rudely banished like you were carrying the Coronavirus. If this were the only hotel in a 50-mile radius, I think I would choose to sleep in my car.

The hotel has a wonderful setting, with excellent restaurant and a superb breakfast. The waiting staff are lovely and friendly. However we were most disappointed with our small and quite stuffy room, situated on the ground floor overlooking a busy and quite noisy road where we needed to have the window open to get any air. I was doubly disappointed as we had stayed in a room on the same floor in February, which was similarly unappealing, and my husband who had been previously to vet the hotel rooms, assured me that on your return we were likely to have a better room. I would encourage anyone booking to make sure that they are not in the ground floor (odd number) rooms

It‘s a matter of opinion. Myself likes to conclude wrinkles are the result of a happy lifetime, but you might think otherwise. If you are into modern styles dont go there. This business is over 100 years of age/tradition and even though additions were build, rooms where updated it has that unique touch you could call charming. The rooms are quite spacious and offer all you really need. The service is pretty good and everyone is doing its best to make your stay comfortable. I have never been to a hotel where I had real electric roller shutters instead of more, or mostly less, „blackout curtains“. Another feature is the a/c cooling with groundwater instead of chemical components. pros: roller shutters spacious rooms free sauna free private parking sympathetic staff reasonable priced food for dinner at a hotel cosy outdoor dining bus station directly in front cons: public carpet has lots of stains elevator is outdated and dimly lit imho the biggest flaw/dealbreaker: The breakfast is below average (price-performance), bacon was wobbly and not crisp at all, butter wasnt cooled, even the famous black forest ham was mediocre at best. But hey…if one door is shut…there‘s a good bakery right across the street.

SStephanieThe room was perfect size for one person. It was very clear and bright, my room have the view to a park. The location is really close to the tram and there's a supermarket super close. The bed is comfortable. Since the bathroom didn't have windows, there's a bathroom exhaust fan, the problem is that is extremely noisy and took a lot of time to turn off after you turn the lights off

The hotel is located in a lovely spot in the woods, with walking/trails and birds chirping, outside Freiburg. There is a large terrace to sit on for a drink or a meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful to provide a relaxing experience. I really enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffett. If you are looking to explore the area, it is situated on the way to Alsace so you can go into Freiburg and France quite easily. If you want a hotel right in Freiburg, this isn't it. And the highway is a bit close by so there is some sound, but usually the birds chirping was louder.

Breakfast we didn't take advantage because we were invited. Also the check out was very good. We were very satisfied with everything in all. And would like to recommend it further.

Ein sehr nettes Hotel - nur leider stimmen die Beschreibungen nicht. Schlecht zu finden, da der Eingang völlig zugewuchert ist. Das Zimmer ausreichend groß und sehr sauber. Nur leider hapert es an der Wäsche; Löcher in der Bettwäsche und in Auflösung befindliche Handtücher. Es war an den Tagen sehr heiß - Fenster öffnen nicht möglich, da das Hotel an der Hauptstraße mit Busverkehr liegt. Zimmermädchen sehr nett. Auch die Inhaberin(?) sehr freundlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet sehr gut. Der Pub besteht aus einem Kühlschrank an der Rezeption (Selbstbedienung und Entnahme mit Zimmernummer in einer Liste eintragen - Vertrauen).

GGuest UserHotel de la cadena B&B que está muy bien. La habitación pequeña, con cama y literas pero con aire y baño completo. Parking gratuito y transporte público conectado con el centro a 100 metros. El centro a 20 min. En recepción nos dejaron entrar a las 11, previo pago de 15 euros. Y no nos cobraron la tasa de nuestro perra. Buen sitio para visitar una ciudad muy bonita.

GGuest UserWe use this hotel as a reference point for our visit to the Black Forest and the truth is that we were very happy The bed was incredibly comfortable and access to both Fribourg and the rest of the highways they distributed for that area of Germany The hotel was very good. Free parking. The main problem is that there were not many choices around to eat, beyond Burger King or McDonald's.
