Les Suites at the Cliff Bay - PortoBay

Amazing place - Definately a step up from Cliff Bay (which is amazing BTW) - very attentive staff. Good breakfast / setting / service - myself and Partner - and friends - stayed in 2 x Duplex apartments - really classy place - staff (like next door at cliff) are the key asset here. It’s expensive (probably works out double to Cliff Bay cost) but defiantly a treat

If you want a small luxury hotel with all the amenities of a large 5star hotel Les Suites is the place to be. Top Service. Highly motivated staff (no exceptions). Great views of Funchal Bay. 20 minutes to Downtown Funchal by foot. 10 minutes to the lido. Great food from breakfast to dinner

An amazing place to stay both in respect of location and service, would recommend without hesitation

We wound up loving our stay here. We were a little upset to start as for our first 2.5 days there was loud construction to the main hotel building immediately by the infinity pool, which meant virtually non-stop jackhammering all day and wrecked the atmosphere. But that then stopped and everything was great from there on. We chose a lateral suite instead of a duplex and are really glad we did, because the balcony was much larger. The decor of our room also seemed a bit more modern than the pictures on the website. Same general idea (sort of mid-century luxury) but all the furniture seemed new and very sleek. In any case, the rooms were gorgeous. The facilities were also excellent - a huge drench shower, loads of storage, wet bar, etc. They brought really high quality fresh fruit to the room every day. The bed was the largest we’ve seen in a hotel anywhere and was super comfortable. Everything you need for a luxury stay. All the staff were great. They learned where we liked to sit at breakfast, and what we liked to drink by the pool and had the fridge stocked with those things, etc. Just very attentive and polished service. Always cheerful and helpful too. We used the main hotel facilities too several times but the Les Suites ones were head and shoulders above for us. The pools in the main hotel were always very busy - we could never get a sun lounger, for example. But we would go down to swim in the sea, then return to Les Suites, where we always had our pick of loungers. It’s quite a walk though - probably 10 minutes down, but it’s all inside so easy enough. We would definitely stay again (as long as no construction!) on our next Madeira trip.

Good hotel and new but the service was not as expected however it is good. The breakfast area was really good however the quality of food is not as good as it should be. Ordered french toast and was below average with a layer of fried eggs on it, and tried the pancake and taste like eggs too!!

Cliff Bay is amazing! One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Service is amazing. Rooms are wonderful.

We love staying at Les Suites at the Cliff Bay. We had a garden suite with our own private garden area overlooking the sea and the standard of accomodation and facilites is impeccable. This time we introduced friends to the Portobay experience and they too are now hooked! We stayed on the Prestige Package which includes return luxury airport transfers, two dinners in the Avista Restaurant. one dinner in the Two Michelin Star Il Gallo D'Oro Restaurant, an afternoon tea, a discount Spa voucher and a lovely touch is a free bottle of Madeira wine collected at the airport on departure. The staff are clearly happy in their roles and work hard to deliver a quality experience to their guests. The food in the Avista Restaurant served in the open air is extremely high quality and the menu choices varied while dinner in the Il Gallo D'Oro is an experience not to be missed. This really is a quality holiday destination. Perfect hotel accomodation coupled with beauty of Madeira and we look forward to returning time and time again. Obrigado and see you soon.
