Beautiful hotel grounds . Spacious rooms but tired decor, needs updating. Service was very hospitable. Much much older crowd

After several nights you will of course notice one or the other shortcoming. For us, however, everything is still at a level where it seems appropriate to the style. Very stylish overall and the professionalism and the way most of the staff deal with the guests is at a good level. In fact, you can't ignore the P/L. Not the right thing for everyone, but even the location is a great compromise for us.

Fantastic hotel. Exceptional service with very friendly staff who are always ready to help. Delicious food with 3 choices of where to eat - all being excellent. Pool, gym and jacuzzi all very clean and relaxing. Superb gardens and well maintained tennis court. Highly recommended.

Everything you might expect. Spacious comfortable room; Excellent food; helpful friendly staff; exceptional garden and pool area. Quiet area, but good access to Funchal. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good, peaceful holiday

My son and I arrived after having spent a week in Saccarum resort in Calheta. Our flight was canceled and we had to pivot our stay here. The facilities, though beautiful and historic, left much to be desired. The room we had in the Manor house had no air-conditioning And was infested with bugs in the bed. The staff was quick to move us to a room that was only a double bed, but promised us air conditioning. The air conditioning did not work. We saw remnants of bugs but no live activity. When we checked out, the staff couldn’t have cared less. It’s safe to say we will never return here .

Classy hotel with great food, facilities and service. We went for the half board option and the evening dinners were delicious (and we are fussy food snobs!). The hotel has lovely gardens, views and the staff are very kind. Swimming pool and other sports facilities also looked great

Lovely hotel, very clean, good size light and airy room, staff fantastic and so friendly and welcoming, food great. Lovely swimming pool and gardens. Shuttle bus into Funchal and back on weekdays. Public bus available others. Hotel will book you trips out and can provide a packed lunch if necessary. This is not your average high rise impersonal hotel. Thoroughly recommend!
