The Royal Savoy undoubtedly occupies the best location for the leisure traveller. Since 2004, when it first opened on the site of the original Savoy Lido, this hotel is popular with all ages, newcomers, and regulars year after year.
Recently refurbished the hotel fails to disappoint

We’ve just returned home after a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything from arrival to departure was perfect. Our room was lovely, Luisa took care of it beautifully, even had equipped kitchen which although we didn’t need that would, I’m sure, be useful if you were travelling with little ones - I know I’d have loved that when mine were small! See ie was excellent throughout, from the wonderful gentlemen outside - thank you for your friendliness - to everyone else who made this such a lovely holiday. We took one foray into the Savoy Palace and returned quickly and very happy that we had picked the Royal, far more personal and friendly. Fully recommend.

We found the Palace entertainment better with more live musicians rather than keyboard & singer in the piano bar.

Could not fault this hotel and preferred it to Savoy Palace as staff more professional and friendly. Trip was good value but disappointed to see same period next year is 100% more which seems excessive Such a shame. Great location and setting

Super hotel with friendly staff and super service. The doormen who welcome you to the hotel are a worthy of a special mention. The grounds and pool are marvellous, and the bedrooms are very good however there is only a minibar fridge which makes self catering difficult. Walls between rooms are not well soundproofed and we had ‘noisy neighbours’ which was annoying. Lovely restaurants and service, although the menus and cuisine are aged and need a more modern presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and any points made are hopefully taken as positive criticism. The hotel is situated not far from the lovely centre of Funchal or a walk to the Lido area, hilly but that’s what you expect in Madeira. Dodging the hawkers for ‘time share’ now called vacation clubs apparently, who refuse to accept ‘no thank you’ means exactly that, is annoying when going for a walk and should be addressed by Savoy and their competitors.

Had a great stay here for our honeymoon. Reception is great and the facilities are nice. AC is a bit lacking and the bathrooms are more outdated, but everything else was great for us.
