A lovely hotel - beautifully appointed rooms including robes, slippers & tea making facilities. Helpful staff gave us a picnic breakfast as we had an early start. Katherine & Ancetin provided excellent massages for tired muscles after our hiking. The indoor pool is a calming oasis & the fennel tea is delicious.

Fantastic boutique hotel. We had wonderfull stay for 10 days and enjoyed every second. Great location to explore Funchal and the rest of the island. Attached bar and restaurant are definitly also worth a try. Definitly will come back again !

The best welcoming staff! The Madeira art of welcoming the visitors! A warming atmosphere and welcoming staff, very professional. Hotel location very central yet not noisy, you can relax even in the middle of Funchal city… Really a boutique hotel with all the facilities and commodities either for a shirt or long stay. An incredible fresh smell of cleaning while you pass through the corridor or enter in the room. Very good breakfast and excellent service from Reception and Restaurant, all staff very friendly and professional, knowing the values of the family that owns the hotel.

Amazing hotel can’t get a better location for seeing the city and being close to bars and restaurants. Rooms are first class as is the service, we had a lovely treatment at the spa and the food is excellent in the restaurant. The breakfast was amazing a huge spread and cooked to order options also. The staff can’t do enough to help and service first class. Overall a lovely place to stay.

We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. Everything was wonderful from check in to check out. The staff are so helpful especially Claudia on reception who printed bus timetables and gave us suggestions of places to visit. The room was very spacious with a small kitchen if required.(We didn’t use it). Lovely bathroom with large walk in shower. Worth paying extra for a balcony. The breakfast is very nice with something for everyone. Buffet with lots of fresh fruit. You can also order eggs, crepes etc freshly cooked and bought to your table. The hotel is ideally situated a few minutes walk from sea front, restaurants and coffee shops. Would definitely return if visiting Madeira again.

Well positioned and well appointed, this hotel hits the mark. Attentive staff with a sense of humour, spotless rooms and communal areas. One of those rare occasions where the website photos do actually represent the true detail! The view from the rooftop, especially of the fireworks, was splendid. We were B&B basis but also ate here several times at both lunchtime and in the evening. The quality of the food was good and value for money.

Didn't stay at the hotel but went for a 'special meal and music evening event. Sadly very underwhelmed with quality of food, very limited choice (either red or white wine) and very average music at the end. No real ambiance in the restaurant and poorest meal we had all week.

We stayed for a week here and were upgraded from a deluxe room to a junior suite. The room was great, on the 4th floor overlooking the gardens and outside area of the restaurant but because it was high up it was quiet. The position cannot be beaten. Unlike some others , Reids, the Savoy etc, which are way out of town and a steep walk, it is bang in the old town which really is where you want to be. The facilities cannot be beaten, roof top pool, jacuzzi etc. Staff are unbelievably helpful. Breakfast very good, with, as well as buffet options with sparkling wine, there are also cooked to order choices. We loved Funchal and would strongly recommend staying here, it was faultless.
