Very sociable kind staff who talk to you like a regular friend coming in, plain rooms but nice sized windows for the fresh air, great rooftop view alllllll over the mountain and the ocean - especially lovely at night as everything is lit up. Cute bar setup aside the pool too! Good price for its perfect location and cleanliness and covering all the basics and a bit more. Good brunch cafe just across the street facing the cafe! The staff were super helpful with setting up a late checkin too.

The little old lady at the reception of this hotel is the rudest receptionist I've ever encountered. I popped in there to check availability and prices. She talked down to me, was loud and condescending, and kept talking over me. Quite frankly I was shocked with the level of the rudeness - she was horrible! There is one thing I am grateful for though, her horribleness made sure I ensuring that I would not want to stay there even for the best of prices!

I chose the Hotel Windsor to spend New Year's Eve in Funchal. Friendly reception staff. Old facilities in urgent need of renovation. When the package was sold to me there was the option of a gala dinner, which we opted for, although the price was too high, but as it was a gala dinner!!! informed that dinner would start at 7:30 pm? We were a little incredulous with the time and that it ended at 10.30 and we would have to go up to the pool area to see Fogo, which would only be open 24 hours a day. We said nothing and the surprise came when they opened the room for the Gala Dinner, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, the said Gala Dinner was served in the breakfast room without any type of decoration alluding to the court. We sat at a table measuring about 80 cm square, decorated with some plastic tablecloths and paper napkins, the food in general was very poor, I don't think I need to do much more than this Gala Dinner!!! Another small detail at midnight would be champagne and raisins served to those who went to the pool bar, it turns out that there were many people who had no way of doing so, because if they did so they ran the risk of falling into the pool due to the number. There were a lot of people in the room when the fire was over and it was possible to get to the bar, one of my relatives went to the bar and ordered champagne, he was informed that it was already past midnight and he had to pay, I think I already gave the feedback enough to demonstrate my total dissatisfaction.

Stuff is amazing but the property and furniture is pretty old. No minibar and no coffee in the room although there is a kettle. I called ahead to confirm my booking but when I arrived I was told the hotel was overbooked and I have to go to Garisol for two days. Well ok but I also booked yours to pick me up from Windsor so this added extra costs to my trip. When I arrived to original booked room I was pretty disappointed - the toilet was dirty and the bed linens very worn off with someone’s hair on it. I got like 20 nasty mosquito/fly bites overnight and when I asked for help the receptionist told me “you must have opened the window and let them in” which I didn’t do it wasn’t nice to hear but I was given a spray and a gel which helped at least, so I was thankful for that. The pool is nothing like the picture. Pretty and small for full hotel of people. All and all slightly traumatized from this trip since I was tossed around like a hot potato and ended up getting eaten by insect. Better spend more and get better hotel.

The staff at this hotel are excellent and super friendly. The employee at the 5* reception was always very helpful. The breakfast very good. The coffee is excellent. The rooms were large and very clean. The location of the hotel is the best, close to everything in the center. When I return to Madeira I will definitely go to this hotel again.

I stayed in Windsor hotel for 4 nights during my stay. The hotel is well located in downtown but that’s the only positive aspect. First impression of the staff was not so good, not friendly and my booking was not in the system. The building is very old looking like the 80s or 90s. The room is not comfortable with old furniture and the bed could be much better. The AC is making noise all night even when turned off, a problem said to be structural on the building related with condensation. The restaurant downstairs have good food, but the breakfast was terrible, very basic with no variety. I would suggest you to look for another place to stay to make your stay more pleasant in such a nice island.
