Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages. Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it. Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. Really enjoyed my stay at fort bazaar. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Due to the rainy weather down south I changed my plans to go to Tangalle and stay a couple of extra days at Fort Bazaar and enjoyed the spa and walking around Galle. I was a solo traveler and felt safe and comfortable there. Definitely somewhere I would consider to stay again

First, a plate of local fruit platters, including pineapple, banana, watermelon, papaya, mango, etc., a cup of fresh juice, then served the toasted bread and delicious jam and butter. Then, come up with staple food, roast eggs, sausage and onion. The whole hotel, the room is not much, but very warm. On the doorway corridor, sitting on the sofa, you can enjoy the waves of the Indian Ocean's blue Indian Ocean. You can blow the wind from the sea and enjoy the romantic Indian Ocean sunset. Enjoy the beauty of the setting sun and the core area of Haiphong. On the edge is a seafood-based restaurant called Huang Shang Huang Seafood Restaurant, the owner is a young man from Jiangsu. The surrounding environment is quiet and safe. Overall, this is a hotel worth recommending to everyone! Don't look at the exterior, be sure to check into the hotel.

We visited during off-season, so there were very few other guests. The first morning we had an unusual ”set” breakfast, which was understandable as no buffet was offered when there were so few guests. Water pressure/temperature was unstable and there was a weird pulsating noise in the bathroom. On the positive side, the staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. It's a lovely estate in absolute terms and stunning in relative terms. Very near the trendy fort area, which is worth a visit. Overall pleased.

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay although in some respects it was inferior to other hotels I stayed in on the holiday. The pools were great and so was the view from the room. The room itself was alright - quite basic but sufficient. We did have problems with a leak in the ceiling which was promptly addressed by staff but still a little annoying. In general the staff were lovely: in particular Chamindu in the restaurant, a security guard who called me and my partner over to show us turtles on the beach (sorry, can't remember his name) and the guy working the sunloungers at the lower pool. The weakest part was probably the food. It wasn't bad exactly, it was just worse than the food in all the other hotels I stayed in.
