Not a great experience, our group stayed for a couple of nights, the food was sub standard at best, staff arguing was not a good sign, we found the new owner brash and rude and the whole hotel looked tired and not very colourful, we stayed a few years ago with the same group and it was 100% first class, the new owners do not have a clue.

If you want a small charming hotel with wonderful views in the Espun’a Mountains then go to this hotel. The food is excellent, beautifully cooked and presented, an extensive Mediterranean menu. We stopped for lunch and were delighted. We have stayed there several times and are returning again in November. If you want somewhere different that isn’t all chrome and aluminium for a relaxing stay away from it all and with excellent service then try here.

Located on the route across the Espuna mountains, with spectacular views across the open countryside, the Hotel La Mariposa provided us with a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and delicious food throughout our short stay. Whilst there are outdoor activities available in close proximity for those seeking adventure, Hotel La Mariposa is the perfect location for those who simply wish to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings or to lounge around the pool. Rooms are spacious, clean and themed individually to a standard that exceeds the 1-star official rating. The menu provides for different tastes and the food is freshly prepared to an excellent standard. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, ensuring that we were well catered for throughout our stay. Overall, a very good experience and we certainly intend to return in the future.

What a gem in a beautiful location. What a wonderful team that did everything they could to make our stay great. The new owners are working so hard to continuously improve and our cosy room had new aircon to make sure we had a comfortable sleep.

Great lunch today organised for us before our quad biking experience. Very friendly staff and a lovely relaxing hotel. Extra bonus for my daughter seeing the hotel cats who were very happy to get a cuddle. Will definitely try and visit again

Wow what a little Gem!!! Had such a fantastic stay, peace and quiet,all activities on the doorstep for the ones that want a bit off adventure. The girls just couldn’t do enough for you, service gold ⭐️. We will definitely be going back soon and staying in the moroccan suite. Thanks guys 👍👍👍👍

We really enjoyed our stay at this friendly and welcoming rural hotel The en suite rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, the owner and staff were helpful and attentive, the food for our evening meal was delicious and when the waitress noted that one of our shark steaks was smaller than the others', she had asked the kitchen to prepare another one without being prompted! The hotel was quiet and only about half full, it being prior to the busier summer season, but other guests were friendly as were a few locals who popped in for drinks on their way home from work. The hotel is perfectly situated in the tiny hamlet of Gebas giving immediate access to one of the best walks in the Sierra Espuna to and back from El Berro through the pine covered hills which incorporates a section of walking through an abandoned railway cutting and tunnel.

What happened to a once wonderful thriving Hotel especially for British.. Overnight stay on 13/04/2024. No other guests at all. Only my partner and me. Menu only in Spanish via an App! Our server/waitress, Maria, was great. TV inaccessible in English. Staff spoke Spanish only. Bar shut at 9pm. Really sorry this beautiful rustic hotel is in steep decline. Booking only on websites. No direct communication. Terrible, terrible…. Visited many times. This was the last. !

My father lives in Spain and treated me to a morning’s quad biking (led by the friendly - and very patient! - Gavin) followed by a fabulous lunch. What an amazing place! The scenery is breath taking, the quad biking is thrilling (I was a first timer and Gavin took great care to make me feel safe!), the food is gorgeous, and the service is friendly. No complaints - would highly recommend.
