Best Hotels near Patara Ruins, Gelemis

Stayed at the True Blue for one week at the beginning of September travelling on my own, so always a bit wary as to personal safety and the friendliness of where I stay. I can say from the moment I arrived I was made to feel very welcome. The staff are very friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you. They are all approachable and happy to engage with you, which is very reassuring for a lone female traveller. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, pool is lovely and the rooms are modern and comfortable. Breakfast has a wonderful selection all fresh and delicious. The bar area is a great place to chat and mix with other guests with plenty of seating. Many thanks to Arda and Egemen behind the bar for being so friendly patient and interested in everyone. (accident and emergency) you will know what I mean (no detriment to them)!! Tuana Su absolutely charming and thanks to the tall young man whose name I can't recall (spell) Tuba the manager -congratulations for maintaining a lovely place and wonderful team, including Rafi and Sajic (apologies if spelled incorrectly) Practical issues - a short taxi ride into Kalkan itself, currently costing 130 tl which is around £4.75 each way, too hot and too up and down for me to walk but I have a problem with my knees. I do think you would need to be very fit to walk into town and back, however there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Food generally very good wherever you eat. Beach club Kalamar not far but very steep walk although you can get a shuttle (but not if a lone person). All in all a lovely holiday great place, great people. I highly recommend a visit.

Yes, the Mediterranean --- just a ten-minute walk from Fidanka Hotel --- is as richly azure in reality as it appears in visitors' smartphone viewfinders. Yes, the locals are invariably models of Turkish warmth and hospitality. Yes, the outdoor temperatures in November will more than often not exceed those in a normal British summer. But more than all these well-rehe****d factors that can be uncovered in the tourist brochures there is the quirky, joyful, riotously distinctive Fidanka. It is a collage of 17 suites that snaggle up a hillside overlooking the Med. They are filled to the brim by a vast array of traditional rural furnishings retrieved over the years across the hinterland of lesser-known Turkey by the mother of the present hotel chief. Whimsical, and unique they create an ambience which has produced an unapologetic one-off. Add to this a Turkish menu that rivals any of the hundred-plus restaurants in Kalkan and a gentle, smiling maitre d' of unusual friendliness (he stayed up until 2am to welcome my wife and I after a late-night flight from Gatwick). Welcome to a retreat and spirit-lifter like no other. You will not be disappointed.

I read so many good reviews of these hotel and couldn’t understand why everybody liked it so much, buuut, once we actually stayed there with my husband we were pleasantly surprised! The personnel were amazing, very polite, nice and helping! The room had a cool design and was very spacious, the amenities were enough and the room was clean. The breakfast was just amazing, it was not a huge choice, but everything was fresh and impossible to resist! We were travelling along the coast and stayed at 6 different hotels along the way, this one is still our favourite, we’re definitely coming back!

We stayed for 11 days in early May and we were very pleased with the hotel. It's small, very clean and staffed by friendly and helpful people. I have been in 5 star hotels in the past which were not as good as The Samira Exclusive. Rooms were cleaned every day and towels were changed; the towels were very good quality, thick and fluffy and bering the hotel's insignia. The only not so good points are the WIFI, which can be temperamental and the breakfast which was underwhelming. Breakfast consisted of mainly cold salads, boiled eggs and two warm (never hot enough) dishes; these were usually chopped local sausages mixed with peppers, and potatoes or occasionally baked beans. If you wanted eggs cooked any other way it would cost extra, this seemed a little petty; the bread however was very good. We didn't eat there in the evenings but I understand from others that the quality of the menu at that time was very good. We had a late evening flight home and asked about the possibility of extending our check out by a few hours, this cost us £40, which I feel is quite steep. The hotel was quite empty when we arrived but began to fill up as the season progressed and I can see possible problems in the high season with queues in the restaurant which is small and finding beds around the pool. Of course we already saw people rising at cock crow to claim beds with their towels and often these beds were hardly used, this is something the hotel should clamp down on. There is no lift either so the hotel is only accessible to the able bodied. Kalkan itself is very impressive; it's extremely picturesque, surrounded by hills and peppered with small winding cobbled streets full of restaurants and art shops, no sign of the usual tourist 'tat'. It is very steep though and I wouldn't recommend it to disabled people or those with small children and push chairs. It is also very expensive, eating out cost us about the same as we would pay to eat out in the UK. People who were frequent visitors told us the prices has almost doubled in the last year or two since Covid. Would I recommend it? Definitely, and I would return to the Samira Exclusive but it would be nice to see the points I have raised being addressed.
