We really enjoyed our stay at Etna hotel. The whole place has got so much character and authentic style. The staff was so friendly and keen to help. We felt really relaxed there. And also the food in the restaurant was to die for!!! Have the Sicilian grill plate, we have enjoyed the food so much! It’s also really close to the beach and the beach there is lovely!

Spectacular for this hotel, best food, pool, staff, Mount Etna view, absolutely recommend, stunning! Was very impressed with the room rate that was booked through ******* and will absolutely return if ever back in that part of Sicily. Dinner was exquisite. Thank You For the Hospitality!!!!

The hotel itself is beautiful and rustic. Great views of Etna by the pool area. There are binoculars in place for closer views. The pool was refreshing. There were always plenty of sun beds and shaded seating areas. There was also public showers, toilets and a shed selling food and drinks from 12pm-7pm The staff are very friendly. They arranged a wonderful trip to Etna. Our room was huge. The shower was great. Air con, hair dryer, toiletries and mini bar fridge were available. Shame there was no bottle opener for the beers. Towels were lovely and soft. They were clean for the most part, apart from being provided with a dirty one on the last day. The only mirror available was in the bathroom. Another in the bedroom with a table would have been nice. WiFi in the room and throughout the hotel was excellent. If you turn left from the hotel, you walk towards the town of Mascali. It feels a little dangerous walking this way, as there is not always a footpath. However, drivers are aware and are respectful. Mascali train station is approximately a 30min walk and worthwhile doing for a trip to Catania at a cost of €4.80. If you book via Trainline, your ticket does not need to be validated. If you turn right from the hotel, you are in Giarrre. There are safer footpaths in this direction and lots of restaurants and bars the further you walk into Giarre. The closing days of the restaurants vary. It’s worth checking before booking. There are also cash machines in Giarre if needed. We were fully aware that the area of the hotel was remote and restaurants don’t open until the evening. What I did find surprising was how much the hotel charged as a result. I expect to pay more at hotels, however €4 (the same price as the beer) for a small Coke soon adds up on a family holiday. Also the breakfast selection is quite small at €8 per person. The hotel restaurant is lovely with attentive staff and a terrific view, but the portions were small at a higher price than anywhere else we tried. We did save some money by using a local cafe in Giarre sometimes for breakfast. On our last day, we found a shop and stocked up on 8 cokes for €5.60. However, the hotel discourages bringing drinks and snacks that has not been purchased there. Despite the price, it’s a wonderful place to stay and we had a great holiday.

First of all I agree with nearly all of the positives on many of the reviews here. I do think however that there might be some rose tinted spectacles on for some people. We arrived from Castania late PM, after roughly a 25 minute drive. I would suggest that you familiarise yourself with Tolls and how driving in Italy works. Bit of a free for all as is well known. The surrounding area of the hotel is quite sparse. Would recommend that you take a street maps view. The nearest eating venue is about 15 minutes walk, which is the Vulcano pub. Popular and very meat based but good. More is available towards Giarre about half an hour walk , however it isn’t like a restaurant lined street with sea views. Take a street view of Fumia pizzeria. Nothing at all opens until about 7.30, getting busier at 9 ish. So drinks at the hotel pool shed is best. Back to the hotel. Entrance is lovely, staff great, pool area really good with plenty of shade. Drinks and food readily available at the pool side shed. The pool could’ve been a bit cleaner, however ash from Etna hampers that. I believe that in the afternoon the pool is open to locals, who were all really nice, except one day when a group of teenage boys visited. Lots of dive bombing and our bottles of water disappeared etc. Rooms are ok and v clean. Not many have windows though and you could potentially be in the main courtyard. Shower was basic and the head needed replacing. Room service really good. No outside food or drink is allowed, which I mostly understand. Good idea to bring water if you can. Small bottles of water €3. Beer €4. Our bill for the 2x we ate at the hotel + bottles of water, a few snacks, pool beers and limoncello spritz was over €800 for 3 of us for the week. My summary would be quaint building in a not great area, where nothing opens until late. Lovely clean place with great staff. Great view. Fab pool.

Our stay at Hotel Etna was an unforgettable experience. The hotel exudes charm and character at every turn. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmest staff. Their friendliness and knowledge of the area and enthusiasm for sharing local insights really enriched our stay. They helped us with taxi, trains, buses, and even gave us a lift because transport is Giarre is difficult. We felt like part of the family❤️ The rooms were clean and thoughtfully decorated, reflecting the rich culture of Sicily. Beautifully tiled floors, rustic wooden furnishings add a touch of authenticity. Waking up to views Mount Etna was a surreal experience. Every morning, we enjoyed our coffee on the private balcony. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was 10/10, we had the creamiest most silkiest carbonara. The brekfast was very nice too, tasty homemade fresh ingredients, just enough options. THANK YOU to the staff for making our stay so pleasurable.

The hotel is beautiful, cozy and neat. There are enough sunbeds by the pool, and the pool itself is nice and clean. At the hotel’s restaurant I had the creamiest carbonara, loved it. Also, the breakfast option is absolutely worth its price - you get everything you need and more; homemade yoghurt and chilled fruit salad were my absolute favorites. The staff is absolutely the best, very helpful and friendly. They helped me and my friends in every request we had.

This hotel captured my heart from the moment I discovered it online, and it exceeded all my expectations upon arrival. From the instant we checked in, we were met with exceptional care and attention, ensuring we felt welcome and well-rested. I will say straight away that as someone who is very used to walk and get places by foot without a car or mopeds, this location is perfect for me. The hotel resembles a historical villa with authentic exteriors, making it ideal for couples or romantic getaways. Our room featured a charming hidden terrace, and every room offers outdoor space for relaxation. The rooms were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, with immaculate bathrooms that felt as comfortable as home. The breakfast service was excellent, offering a continental selection with a local twist, including a variety of cheeses, meats, vegetables, and delicious baked goods. The bar, open from late morning to evening, serves an incredible Aperol Spritz worth every penny. The hotel is smoker-friendly, with well-maintained ashtrays available throughout the property. The pool area is expansive, with ample shaded patio seating and plenty of sunbeds to enjoy views of the hotel and Mount Etna. The pool was very clean, without a strong chemical smell, and had accessible steps for easy entry. Our friends dined at the hotel restaurant and praised the exceptional pasta and attentive staff. Traveling as a group, we frequently sought assistance from the reception team for local tours, activities, and transportation. They went above and beyond, making calls on our behalf to arrange everything, saving us the hassle of navigating logistics without knowing Italian. Overall, this hotel's charm lies not only in its romantic and beautiful setting but also in the dedication of the staff, who ensure guests truly enjoy their Sicilian experience. I would gladly return and have already recommended this place to my family and in-laws. Grazie mille!
