Two days at The Open at Royal Troon this week (Jul 24) and searched TA & Google for convenient hotels. Stumbled over The Redhurst - 30 min drive from golf course. So - took a punt. WOW - WHAT A FIND! OUTSTANDING value for money. Very modern and lovely furnished small hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Bar - well designed and great buzz. Bedroom, though not huge, was good enough and really well furnished, equipped and super comfortable bed and delightfully presented. Ver clean, well furnished with great in room nibbles ( be warned!). Ensuite with shower was well designed and furnished. Dinner menu was not large but more than adequate - simple straight forward good nosh. Crispy BBQ chicken strips , as a starter, is a must- delicious . Their steak & ale pie - WINNER! Meat quality was excellent & plentiful. All freshly cooked, hot and very very tasty. BUT.. the absolute star(s) of the show were the staff. Rarely have I met such young, motivated and customer focussed staff. From front desk, through bar to breakfast & dining staff - all were simply outstanding. They could not have done anything to make our stay any more pleasant. OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this hotel whether visiting on Scottish golf tour or Glasgow.I will be organising a golfing trip back to the West coast & will definitely be visiting again this lovely hotel.
