Our story is a HORROR show. Be warned. Upon arriving in early November from NYC--we checked in and thought, "this place is not very clean, but it's fine." BIG mistake! First: There were ants all over the ground in both rooms we stayed in. Mainly near the sinks. Second: The staff berated us for needing additional towels after our bathroom was leaking. Third: there were bed bugs (see image attached). When we called the manager, a middle aged man, he came in and checked the bed and picked up the bug in his fingers and threw it away. He confirmed it was a bed bug. He then gave us a new room. We should have left but we were only there for a few nights and we figured we would just get through it. BIG PROBLEM. More ants in room 2. The next day the staff accused us of smoking in the room. We definitely were not smoking in the room (because I don't want to be charged, and because I am extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke and had already frustratingly been dealing with it during my trip). Context: I was there visiting family in Kentucky who smoked in their car and their house, which was very difficult for me. So there's just no way we would ALSO smoke in the hotel!!! The smell must've sunk into my clothes, which is what the hotel staff was probably smelling. On November 13, a woman--who we think is married to the older man who manages the hotel--started screaming at me and telling us that we were smoking. She followed me all the way down the hall screaming at me that one morning. I just kept saying, "why are you behaving like this?!?" She then told me I was lying about the bedbug and that it never happened, despite the fact that we moved rooms and the manager *literally* did that for us after he saw the bug. At that same time, another couple who were staying in the hotel, were reporting their jewelry and make up missing. They saw everything, and they saw us being screamed at by the hotel staff. It was around 10 or 11 in the morning and we had to rush into our room and immediately get out of the hotel because we were being harassed so loudly and so violently. They even threatened to call the cops on us for smoking, which, again, WE WERE NOT. We opted to stay at the Holiday Inn, which was a clean and wonderful experience. Honestly it was like...a safe experience to be there after all the trauma. My partner and I travel very often. Just this year I have been to 6 counties. We have stayed in different hotels, from cheap motels to the very fancy expensive ones. I have never in my life experienced this sort of unprofessionalism, harassment, dirtiness, and chaos that I have experienced here. It was UNHINGED. I spent the day crying and then I had to fly home in a few days to clean all of my clothes to ensure that we did not carry bedbugs back with us. It was a traumatizing situation, and I have reported it with Wyndham. I want a refund. Please do not stay here!!!
