This is the second time I have stayed here for the half marathon in Glasgow. I choose it due to location for the start and finish but also as an IHG hotel where I hold Silver Elite Status. I wasn't recognised as a member at check in which is no big deal it is just other properties I have stayed at recognise your status. However, the checkin was prompt and efficient. Despite being early and asking for a high floor room the member of staff did his best to accommodate my request. The room was very quiet, old but well maintained. There are not that many plug sockets if you need to charge devices but the room was comfortable and the inclusion of a kettle and coffee is a small thing but very much valued. The breakfast was extensive and good quality although the time you choose to go it could be very busy but this is inevitable. Staff are great and replenish stock and clear tables quickly. The hotel has a bar with competitive prices. I would recommend this hotel it you are in Glasgow as only a 15 minute walk to Grorge Square area and the airport bus and numerous decent restaurants.

My wife and I planned a night out in Glasgow for our friends 40th birthday and booked this hotel for the night. I must say this hotel wasn't what I was expecting the front of house staff were really friendly and professional however that manager needs to learn she is in her position because of the customers and she should learn to speak to the customer in a more professional manner. In the space of 10 minutes while we were checking in we both saw her being disrespectful to 4 different customers. THE BAR and RESTAURANT The choice of drinks were ok however there was no draft beer available. They also had cocktails in the fridge however the barman refused to sell any to us due to the management not allowing him to do so. We paid for morning breakfast and they had a choice of continental or hot breakfast. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. THE ROOM The room was very simple. It had a small TV with standard free channels. The issue I had with the room was the staff only put 1 towel in the bathroom. If there are 2 people staying it should be policy that you get 2 towels. I cannot recommend this hotel until these issues are fixed and I will not be returning.

Great location. Stayed here before. Staff are friendly but it's really let down in other areas. Our room was filthy. Bed was fresh but the desk was sticky, carpet looked like it hadn't been hoovered in weeks and when I went to plug in my phone beside the bed there was the remains of someone's peperami snack lying on the floor. Bathroom had a brown poo mark on the loo seat (which we cleaned!) And the loo floor was covered in long black hairs. I am platinum blonde and my friend has long dyed red hair... We told reception who offered to comp us breakfast but we had already paid for it so they just took the feedback. We asked for an iron and ironing board, and they were really pitiful appliances. They could do with an upgrade for sure. Oh and during breakfast the coffee machine was fully broken and was being taken apart...

I never need much from hotels, a comfortable bed and I'm sorted. This hotel was conveniently located near a hop on tour bus stop and has the Kelvingrove Arr Gallery and some nice bars and restaurants nearby. The room itself was on the top floor, there is no lift and lots of stairs so a consideration for future travel but I didn't mind. The room was comfortable and clean. There is a little bit of street noise and the room gets very warm with the good weather. Breakfast was very good, you can ask for more and everyone is really friendly.

Just to be clear, this isn't a fine star establishment but it does deserve a fine star review for what it provides at the price or charges. City centre location. Lots of shopping and food options around the venue. Staff were very pleasant although more knowledge about bus routes would have been helpful given the number of out of towners that will be staying here. I chose a double room without a window sunder I was literally just sleeping here rather than spending time in the room. It is very clean, nice white bedding. The double bed took up the whole of the Room bar the entrance part but that was absolutely not an issue because I didn't need any more space. There was a toilet and shower wet room, TV, mirror, hanging area (not a full wardrobe but it absolutely sure what I needed). I appreciated the interesting extra touches which had clearly been considered for a compact space such as storage under the bed for luggage, free wi-fi, plug points and light switches by the bed and only having room cleaning and bedding changed on request and for an additional charge, rather than being included in three cost of the Room when it really wasn't necessary or environmentally aware given that I only had a two night stay. I would definitely use this service again. I paid £25 per night through booking.com which for a city centre location is outstanding.

We booked this as we knew our flight home to Glasgow Airport was landing late and we could not face the long drive home at such a time. By the time we cleared with our bags and walked to the hotel from the terminal it was 2am when we checked in. Unfortunately we were given room 115, which was opposite the elevators on the first floor. It was also not only an accessible room with wet bathroom (no shower unless you wanted to flood the whole room) but also had a ”connecting” door to the next room. No idea who was on the either side, but not ideal for either of us given our late arrival. I was feeling extremely tired and and went straight to my bed - unfortunately it was far too soft and it was a double, so we tended to fall into the middle where the ”hole” or ”dip” in the mattress was. With us both trying to sleep on the outside of the mattress for comfort we continually pulled the small duvet from each other in an attempt to keep warm after our return from Africa. The pillows were also too soft for my liking, however that was minor compared to the mattress. There hours later, at around 5am the corridor started coming alive with excited children heading off on their holidays, running and squealing, literally!! I can't blame them for being enthusiastic, but perhaps their parents might have understood that some guests might still wish to sleep at that time? Thus our morning continued so when we finally dragged ourselves up for breakfast around 9am I was extremely tired and somewhat grumpy... Now to breakfast; a fairly good selection was on offer if you came at a quiet time. I saw some guests leave towards the end our meal time as they did not want to wait in the queue for what was left. My main gripe about the breakfast was again, not the hotel's fault, but the guests, who presumably are not used to staying in hotels and don't know what swerving utensils are for. I saw one female guest pick up and touch several slices of bread and returning them before picking what she put in the toaster machine. I purposely picked a slice she hadn't pawed and waited whilst it went through the machine, then just as it arrived a young man (her son I believe) whisked it away in front of me. Manners non existent. The breakfast staff were helpful and friendly and the food on offer was perfectly adequate if all the guests knew how to behave. All in all, we picked this hotel for a catch up sleep after a late flight in and we didn't achieve that so we will not be back.

We stayed overnight on the way home. Twin room, as the 2 beds are a decent size. The spa has a large pool & 2 saunas & 2 stream rooms plus 2 jacuzzi’s- it was vert busy but open until 9:30pm. I ate in the area near the tv to watch Wimbledon. I had the cheese board & a french martini. I also took a Starbucks hot chocolate to my room. Peppermint tea was a nice addition to the in room drinks. I had an issue when i got back to my room, the connecting door was open, so i called reception & a lovely lady from housekeeping came up to see me & secured the door, but later on that evening, someone in the adjoining room did try to open the door, which seemed strange, as we had been told it was empty, i was asleep but it woke my daughter & she was worried.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel around 8 times and absolutely loved it. Beautiful modern comfy rooms, lovely bar area and the best ever showers! We have always experienced first class service from lovely staff. This unfortunately came to an end when we checked in last month. There was one really lovely young lady at reception as we arrived but she was caught up with another guest sorting out a problem with the TV remote control. I believe this girl summoned another staff member to come out from the office to deal with us. Out she came, never said hello, no eye contact infact was cold, and it made me feel uncomfortable. I'm guessing she was not happy at being called out of the office. So, with a cold and hostile attitude, we were checked in and given keys. As we always requested a downstairs room, I noticed our room was upstairs. I asked if there were no downstairs rooms, and we had requested this. She said”yes so I see,” and said no, there aren't any . So would you not think that when checking someone in who had requested a downstairs room, you would at least acknowledge this. Unfortunately, this has put me off returning and we have been staying at a different hotel. It's such a shame when the hotel is lovely and that one ”huffy” receptionist can ruin everyone else's hard work.

The lighting in the whole building is very subtle. Nice and relaxing music and atmosphere. Only one hand and bath towel in the bathroom and, although there were more in the bottom of the bed, we were unaware of where to find these until we checked out. I was in the shower before I realised there wasn’t a second towel and it was too late to phone reception. Booking had 2 names for the room so we would have expected adequate towels in the bathroom or visible in the room rather than under the bed.

GGuest UserI've stayed here a couple of times. On the edge of Glasgow centre but an easy 10 minute walk. Really nice touches of design in the communal areas and in the bedrooms. I got upgraded to a suite which was very nice. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner in the same restaurant. Only negative was that the dinner service was sometimes a little slow.

GGuest UserIn the UK for ten days, we were the only hotel that included breakfast. We were not disappointed. The breakfast was very rich. There were also staff cleaning every day. There was a gym and a swimming pool. It gets dark earlier here, and it gets dark at five o'clock. After dinner , take a break, just in time for fitness, swimming needs to be reserved at the front desk.

WWinglalaPerfect location surrounded by a lot of restaurants and pubs. A nearby bus stop to go to the airport. The room was not 100% clean and the furniture looked a bit old. Sometimes it was a bit noisy as you can hear clearly when others walked and talked in the hallway but I didn’t mind so much as the prices were very reasonable! I stayed in room 10 which is a single room for 4 nights. It is located at the back of the establishment by the kitchen and kitchen air vent. There was a continuous strong smell of cooking and stale cooking oil throughout the room and bathroom. You could also hear the noise of the industrial kitchen air vent throughout the day and into the evening, which was loud as by the window. No adequate ventilation in the main room or bathroom. Window in main room did not open. Bathroom window only opened if you put something to wedge it open. As the bathroom is directly at the back by the air vent opening the window meant letting in the cooking smells. The cooking smells stays in your clothing and hair, luggage. It was nauseating. Despite leaving the bathroom window open a few hours in the early morning, this did nothing to rid the room of the stale cooking odours. I complained and was offered a full refund of the cost of the room. Unfortunately I could not find anywhere else to stay. Agreed compensation was free breakfasts during duration of my stay. Seems like the done deal in this establishment. In the bathroom there was not a adequate blind at the window for privacy. This meant that the kitchen staff outback could easily see into the bathroom. I often heard them out back laughing and talking outside. There is no adequate lock on the bathroom window. It would be possible for someone to climb up the slope and into the room through the bathroom window. They played very loud music from the pub downstairs. Unfortunately room 10 is situated above this. It made it impossible to have a relaxing evening with this loud music going on into the evening. Housekeeping on the first day was not good. Only the wet towels were removed, new ones replaced. The full rubbish bin stayed unemptied in the room. The housekeeper even failed to remove an empty toilet roll. Housekeeping after that day was excellent and one could see the physical effects of the room having been cleaned. They have employed lots of younger staff. Who were mostly polite and friendly, a couple needed more training in customer service and communication. The food was tasty and well presented. Though as I could smell the rancid cooking oil smells in the room this put me off as to the actual cleanliness of the kitchen. The room/bathroom was newly renovated. The shower was excellent good water pressure and temperature. There was no adequate bins. Only a small bathroom bin in the main room. Nowhere to hang up your toiletries or to dry your towels in the bathroom. Unsure of the effect of one's health stayed in such an unventilated environment. Breathing in the stale kitchen smells. It was quite frankly nauseating. Perhaps health and safety should be informed about this and assess. I do not plan to stay here again and would not recommend booking a single room if you are a solo traveller. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

The location of the hotel is a quiet area, not far from the city center, and it is convenient to go to the pedestrian street. The service staff is more enthusiastic, the breakfast is more abundant, and the variety is more complete. The bathroom sink hot and cold water faucet is separate and not very used. The overall experience is better.

GGuest UserI had booked the last available room here after buying Ed Sheeran tickets for myself and 7yo daughter. I was delighted at being able to secure accommodation such a short distance away - only a 10min walk! For my purpose the room was fine, although I did find the bed pretty hard but a mattress is like Marmite- some people will love it, others will hate it. I’ll admit, to my mind and based on my room alone (I can’t speak for other rooms) this wouldn’t be my choice for a long term stay but for an overnight visit it was fine. Dimitri on the front desk is worth a special mention as he is extremely welcoming, polite and cheery. I had been a bit of an eejit and hadn’t read all the booking instructions but Dimitri was very understanding, took pity on me and gave me a little leeway. So again, another big thank you to him.
