I rarely give negative reviews to hotels. This hotel is relatively old, but it is in the Glyfada area. I thought about booking two nights to see what happens, because this summer I plan to sunbathe on the Greek seaside. But as soon as I entered the door, I found that the carpet had a peculiar smell. When I opened the balcony door, it continued to spread. Then I sat on the bed for a while and felt itchy. I was not sure whether it was due to bugs or unhygienic conditions. Considering that it was not easy for the hotel, we didn’t blame them. We went back to the Grand Hyatt Hotel that night. Then I just asked for a refund of one night's room fee, but the result was haha. It’s not because there’s no refund, it’s true that the hotel’s hygiene has serious problems that deserve attention!

希臘酒店都不是很大,但是有個陽台,乾淨,酒店服務員都會英語,周邊是個商圈,逛街吃飯很方便,離海邊很近

This hotel suited our budget which was mid range. The Congo is situated perfectly near nice restaurants, pharmacy and the centre of Glyfada all within walking distance. The beach which is just opposite is a public one which offers NO sunbeds. Personally this was an issue for me as I don’t like putting my towel on the sand. We got a quick taxi to Voula beach and Vouligmeni beach which you pay 15€ for but this comes with beds and umbrellas & clean facilities ie, showers, changing rooms and WC. In a nutshell the Congo Palace has a great location in Glyfada. It’s clean with our room being cleaned daily but it is dated. Our family room had no natural light so it was very dark and was carpeted which I didn’t like. The pool is basic and could do with modernising too. Nice pool bar / restaurant though. Helpful staff, couldn’t fault them.

We asked for fresh towels and refused to get us fresh towels to our room, I just want everyone to know what experience he will get from such a hotel with a reluctant staff to help the customers it’s a really bad experience to stay at such a hotel bad experience

The hotel was lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms a bit dated but had everything you need. Tea and coffee making facilities. Large fridge. Air conditioning. Excellent stay. Very close to the centre of Glyfada. Great shops and restaurants. Close to the beach. Would definitely stay there again.

I booked on Booking.con for 11 nights. My son and I were traveling together. I have been to Glyfada many times and from the outside and lobby Congo Palace looked great. The room we were given had dirty smelly carpet, the coils in the mattress were felt as you laid down. I went down to ask for another room and was told I needed to upgrade…which I did. The renovated room was nice but the shower had no curtain and water went everywhere. They were doing construction and the noise was awful. The noise from the road was ridiculous, felt like I was sleeping in the road. To make matters worse, my son was sick and we left 5 days early. They refused to speak with me about a refund. They did not return emails to Booking or me. I have emailed 3 times with no response. Staff was nice to my face but I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very noisy outlook from balcony towards the oceanview rooms. Especially after a very long flight we did not sleep for 3 days. The road is very busy day and night with traffic especially bikes. Not noise proof. Do not stay in room 408. The breakfast was ok but certain things were cold but have a good variety.

Visited the pool as it welcomes outside guests. Unacceptable behaviour both from the receptionist as well as the employee who serves Lifeguard duties. His manners are highly unprofessional, as he speaks to guests like he makes them a favour, constantly on his mobile and truly lacking priorities as while having asked and awaiting under the sun for our pool umbrella to be opened, he was purposefully chit chatting next to us with other guests offering ideas for outside of the hotel activities. Makes one wonder how priorities will be settled in case of an emergency. Furthermore, wrong information given by the reception when we called a day prior our visit to specifically check if sunbeds reservation is required, as often is, the answer was no and then when we got there the following morning, not only the welcome was inexistant but also our polite recommendation to the reception of having received wrong information so as to be avoided in the future, was perceived as a way to initiate a confrontation. Having been in Aviation and Tourism worldwide for the last 25 years and known the hotel's former glory is highly disappointing to see such unprofessional behaviours especially from young people who are supposed to be the future of the industry. I asked and I was given the GM name however it was impossible to get her email contacts so as to fill an official complaint. Instead, I was informed by the reception's supervisor that all emails are going to the general address (info) and they forward them accordingly which really makes me also wonder if complaints do ever reach their final destination. So, I have contacted EOT instead. Regardless, please make yourself a favour and enjoy one of the many other and super fab hotels that Glyfada or neighbouring Vouliagmeni have to offer. There are plenty with the exact and correct true definition of service and relaxation.-

Old not maintained hotel poor customer service extremely expensive while the owner contact is a secret! Paid 600 dollar for a Garbage. Rooms are weary old and not maintained, below the smelly carpet the floor tiles are broken and not safe to walk above! What they called family room is just a hostel room bunch of single beds lying around the room, with view of other buildings around! The Roman lock was not working The electric plugs were not working the tea kettle was not working the bathroom did not have a lock !! This is a pure scam for what we paid for this garbage!! As I was explained The hotel did not have a manager just a supervisor who acknowledged my remarks. I got 2 wake up calls in the middle of the nights and early morning that I never asked for, when I complained the front desk staff did nothing he was agitated and refused to simply apologize!?? You better stay away from this hotel it is a bad representation to Athens!

The hotel was lovely. Beautiful lobby and pool area. Good service and very polite staff . My son had some problem with his blood pressure, we asked the reception for help .they paid very attention to our problem. The manager of hotel took us to the nearest pharmacy to check his blood pressure and bought a very useful drug for him as if it’s his own son . Very Sympathetic , very kind.

Stayed here for a weekend, enjoyed the breakfast, room was pretty basic but very clean, reception decor is very pretty, pool is open for non hotel guests to use if they wish to. There is off road parking available and its very close to the waterfront, and local shops

The only decent thing about the hotel are the people who suffer and work there. The lobby smells so disgusting, it is like being stuck in the cheapest cleaning supply bottle constantly to cover the disgusting mold throughout the hotel. The first room which I paid on Amex in full was the most horrible room I ever seen. It is almost indescribable how smelly, filthy, and grotesque it was. I told them I couldn’t stay in a room like that, with stained old moldy carpet. They said I could upgrade for $400 to a better room. Stupidly I paid upfront and after three days I couldn’t take the cleaning supply smell covering the mold that infests the hotel and black hairs (I have blond hair) on the bed and stained sheets. Save yourself by not staying here. It should be shut down.

The hotel seems to be in the process of renovation while remaining open for business. Your experience will vary greatly from the room you get. The room we stayed in corresponds in no way to the very nice design language of the lobby. It was dilapidated, the double bed we requested was twin beds brought close to each other while one of them was rocking sideways. Everywhere there are signs of old repairs and constructions that haven't been finished and are done very poorly. In general the photos on the internet uploaded by the property are a gross misrepresentation of reality. Although the location is nice, it is far from worth the money. Look for other places, this one is horrible.
