Hotels near Fogelbergsparken, Gothenburg

The hotel is easy to find - especially if you get the airport bus into Gothenburg, as it only a few minutes away from the stop, and so is really central. Best rooms are on the top floor, under the roof. We started off on the main floor, near to reception in a Grand Lit Superior room (that being what we paid for in advance). Although that room was large, it was cold and the person working on evening reception (although really helpful) didn't know how to get the heating working (the radiators were all on but no heat in them). Also the central a/c was on - and blowing cold air. Why? That couldn't be turned off, so we eventually swapped rooms - up to the second floor. Although that room was significantly smaller (looking at the website it was a Double Room Superior as it certainly could not be described as 'spacious' - barely any room between the bed and the wardrobe on one side), it was more characterful, and warmer. Still had central air on though. Needless to say, no refund for the difference in room price - so with that and the hassle of changing rooms, I'm not giving 5 stars. Breakfast is very good - just watch when you go as it can get incredibly busy and the staff, despite working mighty hard, don't have time to clear up - so one morning there were a lot of dirty plates/cups stacked up on tables, meaning they couldn't be used, thereby reducing seating. Once the rush was over, however, it was much better. We opted for the wine and fruit deal one evening, which was great - lovely fruit platter, and the fizz was good, too. Overall, an excellent base for exploring Gothenburg.

Good points: (1) We really like its location. It was very easy to reach public transportations. It was also close by lots of local amenities such as Netto, post box, coffee shops, pizza place, and buffet breakfast. (2) Moreover, the hotel has a kitchen where we can warm our own food. Bad points: (1) We didn't like that we had to pay extra for bedsheets and towels. We travel a lot nationwide and to other countries - one of us used to work as a tour guide - and it was our very first time to be in a hotel/hostel/motel that does not include bed sheets with the original price. (2) Our room was located right next to a very noisy playground. From morning until night, it was always extremely noisy. So the only times we enjoyed our time in our room was when it was very late at night or when it was raining heavily, because then no kids were there in the playground. (3) One of the shared-toilets was incredibly stinky.

The facilities are very European aristocratic style hotel, just out of the train station! Welcome fruit, coffee, refreshments at the front desk, quite generous and welcoming! Garden breakfast, rich variety, feels great! Highly recommended hotel!

I needed to arrange a conference at the same hotel a trade show was being held. Based on a previous experience I thought all would be ok, I was wrong. The hotel seems to work openly against your actual requirements. I'd asked for rooms to be reserved which proved a problem. I'd said from the outset that we'd require a group dinner with menu choices, this also proved to be a problem which resulted in me needing to find a restaurant nearby who could help. Ridiculous that Gothia towers (at it's size) expects a large group to all eat the same meal with no regards to choice, whereas a local restaurant can accommodate you seems strange to say the least. When arriving at the conference rooms I was taken aback that I wasn't able to meet my contact whom I'd shared so many emails. It was a faceless envelope handover and the mention of 'ask at reception if you need anything'. The only positive from this was a lady called Christina who was able to help locate items that had been shipped ahead, I'm grateful for her help. The breakfast room at the hotel was disorganized chaos, find somewhere to sit by yourself and get on with things. It reminded me of an all you can eat option in a hotel in Egypt years ago. An experience I never repeated, much like this event left me with the same thought!

It was a quite wonderful experience to stay at First G hotel in terms of the following, I can actually say I have never gotten this kind of experience outside of Japan in my life. Their services with smiling faces, breakfast especially scrambled egg and a lot of line up of breads, convenient location to take almost all trams which will take you anywhere in Goteborg, finally entire performance per cost. At first, I was unsure as to why this hotel was four rather than three stars. There are several amenities lacking that I would expect in a four star hotel. For example. There is no safe in our room, no fridge, no proper bar (drinks are in bottles/ cans) and the gym is in another building from what I can tell. But, the breakfast is truly wonderful! I had so much choice in the dedicated lactose and gluten free area, and the staff remembered I don’t eat gluten and offered me pancakes without me having to ask! All the staff are so helpful and friendly, you really do forgive some of the other aspects. But our room was absolutely tiny. There is a luggage stand, but not enough space to open it up! We rearranged the room (put the table in the clothing rail space) to even have enough space to have one suitcase open, we had to keep the other done up and upright. There was no where to really unpack, and there were just three hangers on the rail. But, the room was clean and the hotel is well located to get into town quickly and easily, so again, we could forgive this when just using the space as a base for exploring. The shower looked like it would break if we moved it, so didn’t adjust the height which was a bit annoying, and the water floods out into the bathroom if used on full power. So we didn’t, as no floor towel/ bath mat is provided. There is an ironing room on the third floor, but no water is provided to use the steam, and I read in a response to a review that you could request a fridge from reception if you wanted one in your room. No one told us this and I couldn’t find this information on the website, so would be good to make this clearer to guests. No idea where we would put it as again space is so tight, but we would probably have made use of it if we had been able to. You do have to book a slot for breakfast which isn’t ideal, but no one is policing it; just used as a means to stagger breakfast times so everyone gets a table. Also have to book room cleaning, but this didn’t bother us as we don’t need a clean every day and are happy with the hotels energy saving measures (which is why the fridges aren’t available as default) so support their reasons for doing all of these things! The hotel overlooks the train tracks, and you do hear the odd train, but doesn’t really disturb you at all. The problem is the noise from inside the hotel. There were some very noisy guests on Saturday night, we could hear them talking and running and even mobile phones vibrating all through the night. This really does disturb your sleep, and I have seen other reviews that mention this. Overall, a nice stay that provided everything that we needed. If we were returning to Gothenburg, we would stay here again, but would probably check out the availability on other options first.

Good location, Great reception from staff when we arrived to check in. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very modern and quirky with a scientific authentic feel. It made the hotel unique with the feel . The room was well equipped to a very high standard. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower is a power shower. Simply amazing. The food was of exceptional quality. The service was excellent, nothing was ever too much trouble. The only criticism I could mention, is the menu is very restricted, not much choice in main meals, but on saying all that, the meals they did have , are of very high quality, and you will not be disappointed. The food is presented very well and tasted amazing. We will be back. The breakfast is plentiful with amazing amount of choice. Very high quality and plenty to eat.Thank you for an amazing stay. Totally blown away with everything about the hotel , service and the food.

The room was clean and had an iron, kettle and fridge. The “double” bed upstairs was two single beds shoved together. Not worth paying for a third person as it was a sofa bed- which pulled out extremely low down so they basically slept on the floor. They also had a very hard section so was not very comfy. It cost us an extra 85 pounds for this- which was not worth it! Overall, it was a good stay as there is a swimming pool (limited opening hours though), they let you leave your bags at reception and the views are greta

I really like this hotel. I always book it every time I went there and never let me down. Hotel location is very good, close to the port, after breakfast, you can take a walk at the pier, the air is very good. It takes a two-minute walk to take the ferry to the city centre. It is very convenient, and it is expensive to take a ferry. The breakfast was very rich, the Swedish breakfast, there was no hot water before, but there was hot water. Can be an extra bed, but to pay, the specific price is not clear. The parking lot is very convenient, but the cost is quite high. There are small supermarkets around the hotel, there are quite a few restaurants, and the hotel also has a restaurant that tastes good.
