Opera Blue Hotel Gouvia Corfu

We had a terrible experience with this hotel. The first room was like something from the 70's. Our holiday company, Voyage Prive, had told us it was four-star. It is not! It's more like a two to three-star. The first room we were given had a broken fridge, broken safe, and broken air-con. The bed linen barely covered the bed and the room was very basic. The second room was a little better but had broken drawers. We had to take a drawer to reception to get them fixed. There was a smell of sewage as you lay by the pool, which was disgusting. The breakfast was very basic. One good thing was the lady at reception who was very nice. Don't go there if you want a four-star hotel.

Great hotel, clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, making you feel at home :) The beach is close by, 5 minutes walk away and the road there leads right by the hotel. It is in the center of Gouvia so lots of shops and restaurants are right next door.

Stay here, it is a lovely hotel! We were wary having read some terrible reviews but experienced nothing but great things. The hotel is so well kept. Our room was modern, sizeable and the air conditioning was excellent… much needed with temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Breakfast offered plenty of choice zero complaints it was very nice There’s lots to do and see, beach is a pebble beach just a 5 minute walk away. We strolled the marina a couple of times, take’s about 15 minutes to walk to, some of the yachts are spectacular! So much choice for eating out. Would definitely recommend!

Imagine a perfect stay where every detail is designed to make your experience unforgettable. Our room was equipped with a/c, mini bar, and a refrigerator, ensuring that our comfort throughout our stay. Plus, staying connected was easy with the hotel's WiFi available. I found this so amazing that I can't help but want to recommend it to everyone. It's truly worth it!

The two female staff on reception and at the bar were lovely! The male staff on site can only be described as odd. We decided to stay a night to experience a stay at €70 with a view to staying next year with 9 family and friends. The room we stayed in looked great but to be honest it stank and the toilet wasn’t connected to the wall so when you flushed the loo it all went everywhere absolutely disgusting. It’s like faulty towers but even worse. I was approached while waiting for my wife in the breakfast area by three Greek guys questioning me on why I was there but in a very intrusive manner! One of the kitchen staff looked dirty and scruffy so we never took up the breakfast. We obviously won’t be using this place is extremely odd. The food place next door is associated to the hotel and the food was extremely bland we ended up leaving most of it. The worst Greek food I’ve ever had whilst visiting the island over the past 15 years! I had to ask for seasoning for the salad and the chicken which was extremely dry and tasteless!

We paid £328 upgrade to Tui for a guaranteed pool view top notch balcony room. Upon arrival we were shown to our room (212). It was small and pokey and "worn out" but the stench of sewage completely took our minds off that. It was disgusting and made us heave. We opened the doors to the balcony to find the only view we had was the top of the entrance porch with 2 aircon units. My partner complained to reception and the manageress was quite obnoxious. She told us we were in an upgrade room and the sewage smell was tolerable!! After 2 days of being ill from the pong they agreed to move us to the room we should have had in the first place but it wouldn't be available for another 2 days. My memories of waking and wretching at the same time linger. There is definately a sewage problem at the hotel and also in it's location. Some days the pool area and hotel landings/interior had the unbearable pong. Breakfast was a mishmash of cold meats, a different form of egg each day and on the plate Broccoli or other left over veg from the night before. It was a first for us both but give me a full English any day of the week. There was no toaster either during our stay. The pool bar was the most expesive bar in Gouvia. 5 Euro for a 330Cl bottle of beer ( £8.30/pint approx). We were in Gouvia with another couple who stopped at the 2* Popi Star. Cheaper and not a single complaint. To sum up - if you are planning to go to Gouvia rule out the 3* Opera Blue and slum it instead. The slums are better.

First impressions on arrival were not bad . however on entry to our room for the next 10 days we were utterly disapointed with the conditions. On further inspection we found ceiling light fittings hanging loose in the bathroom and shower cubicle, also the extractor fan cover was missing exposing all the filthy grime encrusted within. The drain on the bathroom floor was filthy and a disgusting stench off sewage was unbearable. The grouting and shower door slide runners could have done with ripping out. Innadiquate storage facilities for a couple staying for a holiday. The furiture was in very poor condition to say the least. There was a bolt sticking up from the floor at the access to the Balcony area which was there to lock the doors shut. This was very painful to accidently step on when unfamiliar with your surroundings. Complaints were made to reception and were informed that we would have to wait for a more senior staff member to authorise a room change. This was authorised 2 days later, Apart from the stench everything else in the room was identical to the previous room. The view from our balcony was a delightful derelict 2 story shell of a building and some overgrown shrubbery.The Breakfast selection was very poor quality and the evening meal choice was equally sub standard. It was better to eat out if im honest.
