Vriendelijk ontvangen door de eigenaar, zijn gezin en de medewerkers. Met de eigenaar een sunset-safari gemaakt in de Valley of Desolation. Goede en uitgebreide uitleg gekregen over de natuur daar, en ook over het leven in Graaff-Reinet. Wat betreft de kamers hebben we het idee dat er wel wat verschil zit op de inrichting en het comfort. Sommige kamers lijken heringericht en vernieuwd (die van onze zonen was erg smaakvol ingericht, met mooie parket op de vloer en een zeer breed boxspringbed), andere kamers lijken ouder te zijn. Wij hadden een zeer ruime kamer/appartement, die proper maar wat verouderd was. De bedden waren een beetje doorgezakt, en piepten bij elke draai die je maakte wat niet bevorderlijk is voor de nachtrust. In de badkamer moest je door de vele hoogteverschillen echt wel een beetje uitkijken dat je niet struikelde. Een probleem met de airco (verwarming nodig!) werd snel opgelost. Het avondeten in buffetvorm was heel erg lekker. De bar en het restaurant zijn erg gezellig ingericht. Het ontbijt correct.

Staying In Karoo Guest House is a pleasure for us every time we come through Graaff Reinet. We thoroughly enjoy the welcoming and friendly greetings, the pristine surroundings, the clean and spotless rooms, the delicious meals and the always very friendly and forthcoming staff members. We also appreciate that we can bring our dogs and love the immaculate sparkling pool. The only slight issue we had was that the room we were staying in, was lit by the street lamps throughout the night. It would be lovely if some dark blinds or curtains could be fitted so the room is much darker.

Bien situé en centre ville. Accueil sympa, chambre donnant directement sur la rue donc un peu barricadée. Climatisation. Chambre propre, un peu vieillotte mais sans plus. Litterie confortable. Pas d'eau chaude dans la salle de bain. Restaurant correct, pdj plutôt moyen par contre Bien pour une nuit.

Sadly Karoopark Guest House failed to live up to expectations. We stayed in room 9 which was looking rather tired and neglected in several areas. Facilities in the bathroom lacked a storage shelf in the shower and generally could do with being upgraded. Room had no blackout curtains, internet was not working so no television, room and sitting area had no form of heating when cold. Housekeeping in our room was very basic consisting of poor make up of bed, no washing of cups or glasses after making drinks. Generally staff were very good - owners failed to show any interest in guests unless you were in a large party booking. Booked a Township Tour in advance however our tour was nothing like that advertised - disappointing. However our guide was charming.

Delicious supper and a very good breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good location (walking distance to Union High School). It would have been nice for my room to have a fridge, but otherwise the rooms are comfortable and we'll stocked.
