A lovely hotel with lots of character. Having read previous reviews we were a little sceptical. However we loved are stay. Bedroom clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Staff friendly and the spa was a wonderful bonus. Nice to have a hotel with quirky character.

I was very excited to experience the "spa" with my friends. We got there and we're charged to hire gowns, these were poor quality. We were taken into a dark and unclean spa with shockingly outdated facilities! The pool was freezing and small, one of the steps going in was broken. The jacuzzi was a good size but also, cold! We went into a "hydrotherapy pool" which was as cold, and many aspects of this was broken. We had been charged more to use this so was very disappointed! It was unclean and then shower room was also broken in this area. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. We also had afternoon tea, this on the whe was good! A lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and very traditional British decor. A shame that noone came to check on us as we would've loved more to drink. Also scones came with squirty cream not clotted which was a shame.

Absolutely terrible service at this place. It’s like they literally don’t want your business.. we’re trying desperately to get Amy to call us back about booking a reception, we have been trying now for over a week. No response and never there.

Brilliant hotel with very friendly staff. Cannot fault this hotel. The cost was £300 hundred pound cheaper than the Premier Inn at Bridlington. This includes free access to the spa.

Had to wait at reception to book in as only one member of staff who was over in Spa, Once taken to room it was down in cellar and seemed like trades mans stairs. Room smelt damp and musty, was also very dark (Rm 33) Went to reception to complain , ask to change room had to wait again as no one there. There a old tall man in lounge reading paper who did look up but said nothing, Room got changed after I went looking for staff. ( I subsequently found out that the old man was the owner, Why did he not help me) Breakfast was good. Would say hotel need a complete refurb and update, i would say nothing been done in over 30 years. I would not stay here again

The hotel is over 250 years old and the decor and room furniture reflect this. But it is very clean and tidy and the staff go above and beyond, it is also right in the centre of the town and pubs, restaurants and shops easily accessible.
