Great view from our room! Very clean, easy access to the main attractions of Grindelwald First. We tried the cheese fondue and carbonara pasta at the restaurant.

If you like the mountains and the views, it's great. The service is excellent and the reception treatment is very pleasant. You have to keep in mind that you do not go to a luxurious hotel, you go to a mountain hotel, and it complies with everything: good heating, parking next door, restaurant, you have the railway to go up and down right next door, etc.

The view was simply super.

In addition to the inconvenient transportation, the scenery is still beautiful.

All the reviews good and bad are correct. Is this a gem of a place? Yes. Is it a pain to get there? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. We spent 3 nights with our kids ages 12 and 9. We got a family room with cool bunk beds. Kids loved it! Our view was incredible. If you can afford a car service to bring you up then great! Do it. If you rent a car and drive up then great! Do it. In the summer it’s no problem and parking is free. We had 4 rolling bags and did not have a car. We took the gondola up. It wasn’t easy. Period. But once up and once down with the bags and we were fine. Without the bags it’s no big deal but you do have to be ok that the gondola stops running by a certain time and if you aren’t up at the hotel then you have to get a cab which is over $100! But once the gondolas stop, you have the place to yourself and it’s dreamy! Even my older kids loved having the playground to themselves! It is so peaceful! In the end we loved it. Water pressure is awesome but they do t provide many toiletries so bring your own or get them down in town at the COOP. Hotel staff is very friendly. This really is a gem. Just mentally prepare yourself that getting up and down with bags on the gondola isn’t easy (but it’s doable).

Hidden GEM! Most AMAZING PLACE in Grindelwald! Staff are so nice, food is GREAT, the VIEWS are BREATHTAKING, and the location is picture perfect nature haven. We hope it stays the Hidden secret it is. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fantastic trip to Grindewald. Great service, comfortable lodging, very good food and amazing views. Highly recommended! Family of 4, with 2 teens visited in early June and we absolutely loved it. Great base for exploring the area. Took every meal out on the amazing patio!

The worst experience. They never mention anywhere that in the snowy season the only way to get to the hotel is by gondola. Our train arrived at grindelwald at 4.18 and there was no gondola service anymore because they run out at 4 pm. We couldn't get to the hotel anymore, we contacted the staff and they didn't care, we lost the reservation, they didn't give us anything back, not even a miserable courtesy breakfast. We let ourselves be carried away by some comments where it says that it has beautiful views but the way to get there is terrible, if you don't get on the gondola before 4 pm there is no way and you can't go down to town either. I do not recommend it at all. Ay The end we stayed at the derby hotel because there was no other place and that was great, everyone was very friendly, the room was excellent, it was right next to the station, I would return 100 times more with them.

Nothing can be said other than such a wonderful place. Great food, staff and views all make for a 5 star restaurant. Holds many fond memories in our hearts for so many years. Food was tasty, drinks, a good choice and could not fault the service.Excellent thanks.

Very pleasant hotel away from the city and at the foot of the ski lift giving access to superb hikes, lakes and various activities. A very warm welcome and impeccable rooms. Be careful though because the standard double rooms have a separate bathroom and toilet, but we were moved to another room without any problem. The restaurant is excellent and the fondue is one of the tastiest compared to other restaurants and hotels.

The hotel is very beautiful, in an exceptional position for views and convenience (during the day, for going to the slopes). Excellent restaurant and good breakfast. It would be interesting to have the possibility of using the cable car with a discount for guests.

I didn't know where it was when I made the reservation, but I found out when I arrived that the hotel was built at an altitude of 1,600 meters. . . This means you have to take the cable car up (the previous person took the cable car 1600 meters from Grindelwald). But everything else is perfect. It's great that there are only ten apartments here, so you can easily recognize other tourists staying here. The service is good, breakfast has everything you want, and the dinner is simply amazing!!! We fall asleep at 9:30 every night. If you feel that work has exhausted you, this place is especially suitable for you. relax for a moment. Even our little ones easily get into a relaxed mood.

In the summer, as hotel guests, you can drive up there, but the road is not very easy to drive, and local residents kept "warning" us not to drive up there, which made us not feel very happy on the first day. But the next morning I was healed by the scenery outside the window. There is a cable car station right in front of the hotel. It is very convenient to go to First (you can check in repeatedly at the Crash Landing on You filming location). After taking the cable car down and taking a bus, you can go to another cable car station to go to Jungfrau or Mönchengladbach. It is very convenient. The hotel provides a bus ticket. But pay attention to the cable car operating hours. The activity time every day is limited. If you miss the last cable car, you will have to climb up. The hotel's bath water is so good and the water pressure is strong enough to relieve fatigue. Linen is also good. The breakfast bread is delicious, there are not many other varieties but it is enough to fill you up. The only hot items are croissants and boiled eggs, but they taste great and you won’t get tired of them. The disadvantage is that there are a lot of flies flying on all kinds of food. The conditions in the mountains are limited and there is no way to do it. People with mysophobia should be careful. Breakfast was included in the room rate, so I ate it despite the flies, but I didn't spend any money in the restaurant for dinner. Eating instant noodles while watching the Eiger in the room is also a very special experience... Please pay attention when choosing a room, some rooms have bathrooms outside. We chose a room with a bathroom inside the house. Turning on the bathroom light will force the exhaust fan to turn on, which is very noisy (understandable, there is no window in the bathroom, and there are already visible mold spots in the corners). Closing the bathroom door can effectively reduce the noise. Troublesome. There is also a sloping roof. If you accidentally hit your head, you need to get used to it. When I checked out, the bill was calculated directly to me at a 1:1 euro bill. I had to pay attention to changing the bill to Swiss francs, otherwise I would lose a lot of money. But overall I am very satisfied. As long as the price is right, I will stay here again next time I go to Grindelwald.
